I don't understand the fascination with times at all. Unless the best time is by several minutes, it doesn't mean much on its own as there's just too many variables.

How long was each stage, how hard was it ridden up until that point, how many riders in the group, what's the temperature, what about the wind, what was happening with the GC at that point? What pillows were they sleeping on, did they have mood lighting on the bus? And so on.

In '09, Contador/Schleck spent half the time looking at each other and they're still faster than '00 Pantani/Armstrong who spent the whole time trying to gap one another. What does that mean?

Like I said, not much.

Thanks for stating the obvious. More people need to get this.

Most people don't get it, you have to forgive them.

the feeling : cycling Ventoux - by my video

If somebody is interested in watching how it is cycling up to Ventoux (HD quality), I suggedt to visit my video:
at 8 min I looked down from the top after cycling up 1st time, than 3 min long descending - video, then after 15 min starts the Bedoin - Ventoux climb.
That day I cycled up 4 times by my touringbike (Club des Cinglés du Mt Ventoux).
This is the Mekka of the cyclists; a real pilgrimage destination; that day I saw a lot of cyclists....
Later I ascended from malaucene and Sault too.

I wonder what Froome would have done if he hadn't spent so much time talking on the radio and/or being told to slow down via his radio

Another stage that the Pinarello advertising division
must be extremely pleased with. If I didn't already
own a Pinarello* I might have rushed out a got one!

*full disclosure, actually my Pinarello is a track bike.

Is that why he was given oxygen after the finish line therefore delaying the podium presentations as filmed by Itv4

That's just part of Team Sky's "marginal gain" regime. :D

Today was one of those stages that makes me love cycling. Watching Froome this year in the Tour has been an absolute honor. What a great cyclist he has turned out to be. :)

You must have been a die hard LA fan then...

Lol, why doesn't anyone complain about boring rider Froome? :)

It would be ingratitude not to use his team to their full capacity. Certainly, him following Quintana's attacks, and let catch them whoever can, would cause a lot of fireworks. Perhaps, however, Quintana displays touch too much eagerness to handle everything on his own, enjoys chasing down the breakaway riders one by one, or is simply in a different position within his team than is Froome.

This is the top 50 only for mountain top finishes in TDF
Iban Mayo(45:47) and Pantani(1994 Tour-46:00) would smile to this:p

I don't see what that has to do with anything. I loved seeing Froome demolish virtually everyone on Ventoux. He's the best man in the race, and he isn't afraid to show it. He makes exciting racing. :)

The TV commentators were almost speechless and eventhough they tried, they couldnt really hide what they were thinking.
