Yea, ridden it myself and didnt think it was that bad. One thing is that the steep first couple of kilometres (average 10.3%) encourages people to attack right from the start.

they only need a couple of minutes, they have no attention of catching the break, its a middle station for a later attack.

Much better for Sky to just ignore them and chase them back gradually before the next climb, if they go mad in the chase they will just drop their own riders.
