Oh dear, it is raining on the two leaders. Not we want to see on a mountain stage. They gap over the Froome group is now 5:19.

Yes I do.

A bit curious why the two Belkin guys are in the breakaway. Are they going for the stage, or setting up something for TGBM? Yesterday Gesink and Nordhaug pretty much pulled TGBM and Ten Dam up the Alp twice and proved that they, at this point of the tour, had far better climbing legs. So I doubt their team leaders will have the legs to try anything.

Stage win

Mollema is sick, and could lose his top 10 spot and Ten Dam is spent.

Nieve and Sicard are the two Euskaltel riders in the 44 group.

And Ruben Perez.

If he was I would've thought he'd have contested the mountain points.

Nieve is about the least explosive rider in the peloton, he will lose those sprints for the line every single time. He picked up a few points though, but took it easy, clearly saving energy.

Be interesting to see how long Riblon can hang on.

If he is indeed going for the KOM jersey, his best bet would be to get points at the next climb, and maybe the next then take it easy and launch a final assault tomorrow.

Would appreciate thoughts on Izaguirre's chances to win the stage. I backed him at 100-1 so any positive thoughts greatly appreciated.

I think he can beat Hesjedal. Whether he will win will likely depend on the movements in the group behind and in the peloton.

Much better than 100-1 right now for sure, and I would back him over Hesjedal, but it's a loooong way to the finish.

He'll help Nieve when Nieve bridges up there later in the day so very little chance.

If that will happen. There seems to be very little cooperation in that group, judging by the fact that Cunego et al can ride away so easily.

Nieve is one of the better climbers in the race, so he can easily bridge a couple minute gap :p
