todays result:

most hyped:
Garmin
the fact that in their interview that this is the core of what the team build upon. And they were confident they can deliver the result. Well, they aren't even in the top 3

most expected
QuickStep
even with the injured of martin, they still delivered the best time, only got beaten by 1 second;

most improve
Saxo Tinkoff
with their lackluster season, and the team wasn't look that strong, looks like the team are coming to their form. 8 seconds from the top TTT team and 6 seconds from sky aren't a bad place to be

most walk the walk talk the talk
Sky
they realized they got an injured riders, and they aimed to not loose too much time. They did perform in flying color. just 3 sec off the winner

most surprising
orica green edge
the talk has been about QuickStep and BMC, and they manage to sneak in to claim victory. The presence of matt white might have the impact of their success yesterday and today.

lotto belisol
who da't thought they would be in 5th place just 17 seconds adrift from the winner. Even beat Garmin and BMC.

most disappointing
BMC
with the fire power of what looks like the best in the world TTT squad, only to manage 26 seconds from a lot lesser team.

They were 1,5 secs behind just after they lost him. They would in my opinion at least have gotten same time as Sky

yesterday because 1) he's not in form 2) he's not here for gc 3) so the moment he knew he didn't feel well, he didn't bother, saving energy for the rest of thes tages
today he looked good though, one of the few belkins that actually went fast i think

Well I think its stupid doing that, Belkin will be dissapointed relying on Mollema I think. No way Mollema can keep up in the climb with the favs imo. Everyone probably thought doing Giro was good in hindsight but I bet Gesink regrets it now. I think next year he should go for the TDF thee climbs suit him better than the Giro and Vuelta he sucks on steep gradients, Wiggins was even stronger on the first MTF on the steep bit, I don't no what you think? It's weird though Gesink and JVDB have always been in my fav GC men who I cheer for yet no one else like's them. I think JVDB will finish top 5 and he will beat Valverde, Valverde has bad recovery in the TDF its always been like that.

Evans looks strong but heavy.

Thing is he as the Giro in his legs he wont be a factor at is age against these guys even without the Giro. He done great to get 3rd in the Giro but he looked strong early on getting bonus seconds in the Hilly first week and when the Mountains came he could not really respond and in the end he was a little lucky imo. I think we need to wait till AX-3 and the stage after that to really see where he is I predict him going backwards same as TJVG.

Dunno, a guy who won Emilia 2 times and who dropped Valverde on the steep gradients of La Pandera (Valverde came back at the flatter part after all), should be able to do well on steep Giro climbs...
Just think Gesink isn't a climber anymore. He's changed somehow

Ted King's SRM data displaying 32:24, ASO saying 32:32.

ASO is so on my s***list right now...

You think they should abandon the official time keeping and go by the riders power meter? Interesting idea.

No, but it does merit further investigation.

The ASO doesn't exactly have a sterling track record so far this tour.

By 6 measly seconds after doing the whole ttt injured on his own. Are they playing hardball this year? Maybe they'll throw out the grupetto if they miss the limit or penalize the sprinters for hanging on to cars

UCI changed the rules last season, it is now in "exceptional cases only, unpredictable and of force majeure," (2.6.032) the jury can extend the finishing time. By the rules they now will have to throw out a 50 man grupetto if they don't make the time limit, unless they are hindered by a jökulhlaup, a pyroclastic flow or are held up by a tyre stealing mob of keas.

This Ted King issue is such a joke. If it had been Cavendish getting 3 minutes after the limit on a MTF they would keep him aboard. There are rules to be followed but there's also common sense, something ASO or whoever make the call clearly don't have.
It's very easy to be hard with the weak (in this case, unknown riders) riders like King. I hope all the sprinters miss the time cut in the Alps and they throw away 50 riders at once. Also I want to see them throwing away every rider that hold on to cars in the climbs, regardless of who he is.

Evans would have reduced the loss today with Hushovd in the team. But obviously he calculated this cause I see an interview with him commenting this where he is saying the tour is more than one stage, so obviously he did not consider Hushovds team trial skills to be enough for bringing him to the tour. He prefered his guarding angels instead, so he probably thinks he will make up for the lost time today in other stages.

Jim Ochowicz on the other hand admitted they missed him on todays stage. According to this interview on norwegian tv2:

OGE introduced Svein Tuft to the TdF roster so that it could have a red hot go at the TTT. He has been in both winning TTT teams for Orica at Eneco and Tirreno in 2012. There are 4 members of that Tirreno winning team here in Tuft, O'Grady, Goss and Meyer plus they some excellent additions in Lancaster, Impey, Gerrans, Clarke and Albasini.

With the momentum of winning their first ever TdF stage I think they will give the TTT a real shake.

Tuft gets a little bit of history with his performance in 3 winning OGE TTT's. No surprise to see the OGE boys take out the win. Now to see how long we can enjoy yellow. Will be interesting to see how Meyer and Tuft go in the ITT as well.

Nope, if it was Cav there would be 50 other people in the same group, and he'd be the only one to get any sort of punishment.

The Ted King situation is silly, but no need to go dragging others in to it.

I'm not attacking Cav or anything, my point is that if some higher profile rider (like Cav) missed the time cut they would probably keep him aboard.
Anyway, now they have to keep on punishing like this.
