According to CN and le tour live reports Cav, Kittel, Goss and Greipel have all been dropped and the peleton is now just 40 riders and 2.47 ahead of the grupetto.

Great work by Cannondale.

it's a lot more than 40 riders.

No he wasn’t and I’m not saying that was the cause but the GC riders won’t be moving up alone, also the sprinting teams are often making moves prior to the 1-2km point.

It would I think be beneficial but much of the danger comes down to the closing route itself and also if they are chasing someone in front.

Cav 3 minutes behind

Too much to ask ?:(

I think it is too much, especially when there are other climbs and Cannondale are drilling it.

Cav nearly out of contention:( I thought his climbing had improved, but obviously not.

Maybe he is playing the longer-game of conceding any chance of the intermediate points and seeing if he can get back in time for the finish?

Wouldn't count them out just yet, there's a good 50k or so until the next climb, and I can't really imagine Cannondale is going to get a boatload of help.

Huge crowd on the points of interest.
Great attention, for every stage of the race.

Too bad Jensie won't make it.
Or am I wrong?
