Frank is trying to salvage his podium but it's not going to happen. Chapeau for the ride and effort though!

Costa too good. No idea what this means for the Tour, I guess he's most likely to have peaked for June.

So 33 minutes is the best time for the climb. Probably headwind

Well, 32.40ish with the bike change

well spotted, i was just about to post it

32 minutes or under if the flat part wasn't on the route. guys like rui costa went full throttle there too, more than likely, above 6 w/kg for the whole ride
rui costa = great quality

faster by a second than jeanneson i guess?

And Rui did a very bad one on top of it.

Love these half flat-half climb type TTs.

Tour de Costa

Movistar will be brutal in the Tour, no doubt.

The 2013 Tour will be better than folks seem to think. I still see Froome as the favorite, but I don't think it will be a cakewalk by any stretch of the imagination.

Movistar plans at start of year of copying Sky's marginal gains seems to work wonders for them. Good for them!

Rui Costa is no threat to the Sky-train on the high mountains. That's all up to Quintana and Valverde.

The last week looks like an absolute killer.

Valverde and Quintana co-leading the Tour. Costa will be their main domestique, after last year this is his focus race for this part of the season.

Understood. Overall team strength is why I bolded/co-signed Dazed's comment. It surely won't just be one guy hanging on to the end of the Sky-train a la Nibali in 2012.

^^ That. You could see it at last years tour. At the real tough mountain stages Costa can't keep up with the best.

He could still go all-out in the bottom of the climbs to drop many of the SKy doms.

Astana will be pretty strong too, but I don't think they have the leader to finish things off. We will see.

Probably, yeah. And I say good for him! I totally respect that he came here as the defending champion with the goal of winning it again and didn't say "**** it, I'm peaking for the Tour".

Actually he spent all week saying that the Tour was the goal and that was where he wanted to peak
