Didn't FLandis buy his Ex-wife a house in Escondido?

He used to live there and training on Palomar on regular basis, but Escondido has has many different neighborhood. Some with luxury multi-million dollar homes and some every bad areas. Mucho Hispanics too :D

Edit: @maxmartin maybe it was Temecula :D

Stay home, it will be 120F HOT in Palm Springs.

either the start to see and talk to riders or the climb to the finish is the best place to be ...

Why does it take for freaking ever for all US pro races to get results up? European races have the top 20 3 minutes after the field crosses the line and complete results are usually on line in 10 minutes or less. Are we really that much more bush league?
Don't answer please Euros, that was a rhetorical question. I know, I know.

These things take time. The old guy with the stop watch has to go back and write down the times. He has to double check, then run it past his wife. Then it is handed over to the committee chairman who may have to make some minor alterations depending on who has paid their subs on time. It's a complex process.

The top 10 was up immediately after the race. Since some riders may be finishing more than 1 hour behind, no wonder the results are not up yet.

This last batch took a while to get over Cole Grade, will post pics later. Was really surprised there were still riders on the course because cars started to pull on to the road and then none other than Beppu and Hepburn roll past, they were pretty fried. Even Van Summeren.

Couldn't watch live due to my own race, but very nice win by Westra, looks like he'll provide some good competition for Tejay (still hope Tejay takes it though). Also good to see Stuyven's in 5th and Andy testing the waters a bit.

Deignan also looks to be carrying his good form on from Gila.

Would like to see him get back to a WT team next year.

Interesting to see what he can do tomorrow. This looks like his best form since the Vuelta '09.

Thanks, Jancouver :) We are in the Phoenix area so we are used to the heat, lol. It won't take us long to get to Palm Springs, so we will probably plan on trying for the finish. Hmm, maybe we can arrange to do both the start and the finish!

Did some more checking and it's looking as if it might be better to fly out on Tuesday instead - it would be easier to do both the start and finish.

As long as we make one day I'll be happy.

I sure agree with you on this! :(
inhumane actually...especially after today

Not for those of us who consider today's heat cooler than what we're used to ;), tomorrow will be more of a normal heat. Some of us don't have snow or weather that keeps us from riding (year round), a sandstorm or firestorm maybe.

Hubby is willing to fly us out for tomorrow's stage. Any recommendations on the best viewing spots?

Tell him to take an ice bag with him or ice gel packs if he's not used to it and lots-o-water not sugar beverages. Also, a big hat and sunscreen, maybe an umbrella, not much cover on that last climb.

I have no idea what sort of shape Gilbert is in, but he definitely had a problem with one of his feet. I was at the BMC bus when he pulled up with one shoe off and he was limping off the bike getting into the bus.

Always funny when Ryo claims something that is instantly proven wrong. How the hell would Mancebo ever be faster than Westra? Unless its 10% uphill...

because I've seen mancebo win massprints, how about westra? mancebo clearly had the tank empty, that wasn't a sprint

Mancebo used to win some sprints (massprints, I don't remember...), just 2 riders after 3/4 min at almost 95% of their max isn't a proper sprint and mancebo didn't manage well (he took the last corner in front).
But congrats to them to have put a bit of "spicy-taste" on that 1st stage.
