First Gallopin, Nibali and Elmiger where in front and Sagan apparantly flew passed them.

Tony Gallopin: “All day the guys worked for me and I want to say thanks to the team. In the final they brought me to a really good position on the last climb at 5k to the finish. There were so many attacks then – it was like a war in the peloton. I think 10 riders went, including me and Fabian. After the descent I tried to go alone but Nibali and Elmiger came with me and soon Sagan came to us also. He didn’t even stay in the wheel – he just blew by us.”

Dirk Demol: “So close. It was a hard final. We knew it would be and we went to see it yesterday so we’d know. Tony and Fabian both had it in their minds to try something. Tony put in a strong attack at 2k but was caught by Vincenzo Nibali and Elmiger and then Sagan bridged up also with maybe 500m to go. He was in a good position with 150m to go but then Sagan passed him with unbelievable speed.

Like I already said, this time loss is very comparable to times lost in previous years on similar stages. And he still did great in the classic those years. Boonen is not a climber, no one that weights over 80kg should be able to climb.

8% at 1.6 miles is definitely out of Boonen's capabilities.

How can contador have been caught on the descent when at least 3 other riders were over the final climb before him though.

Sounds like those three(Nibs, Elmiger, Gallopin) were behind him over the top.

"All the overall contenders marked and followed each other carefully," Nibali said after stage 2.

"We were all watching each other on the climb; me, Froome, Contador and Evans. To be honest Contador seemed to be the strongest. Going over the top he was impressive. He accelerated hard over the top of the climb, showing he that little bit extra than everyone else."

"I got back on to Contador on the descent after he attacked over the top of the climb," he said of what happened, revealing the cut and thrust of the finale.

"The descent was fast and then Tony Gallopin attacked with about two kilometres to go at the roundabout. It was a clever move, and I saw that the others were looking around, so I went for it too and joined up with him. Then the other rider (Elmiger) joined us."

"Unfortunately, then Pete did an amazing ride, as he often does. He went for it with about a kilometre to go, got across to us and then went again with 500 metres to go, leaving us behind. We were in the red, there was nothing we could do to stop him winning."

Thanks for the videos, very impressive by Sagan. Love 2:16, passing the other guys sitting on the top tube, then just blowing by the next group like they were standing still.
