I'll say Elissonde and Anacona as my young climber wildcard picks. Would be nice if Betancur went in the break as well.

No way this will be a break. It's a short stage followed by rest day and Valverde + Dorito still haven't won a stage, and this one fits their punch - even though their form is lacking.

He better star testing those legs if he's serious about the WRR title

Nibali won't be dropped, his form is getting better everyday. Plus Vino knows what it takes to win a GT

That's the impression I've been getting as well. Still hoping for the opposite though. Better Nibali than the spanish duo though.

Oops, I always wrote pajares, don't know why i used h this time.

Anyway I was wondering because ITV said yesterday was "almost the greatest Vuelta stage you never saw" and I was thinking if Pajares 2005 wouldn't hold that honour.

Hinault Serranillos 1983 was probably better than both.

can any CJR rider win today?

Also was the yesterday's stage the only one in this vuelta where txurruka didn't attack?

Txurruka did attack several times yesterday

was it before things went live? sorry, i didn't see it. i also missed live action for a few min due to work.
I was hoping for a txurruka win today, with him going solo from the expected break.

Will saxo allow CAS to go for a stage win today?

Fun fact: Formigal was the first ever MTF at the Vuelta (1972).

1972! my father hadn't even met my mother by that time. did it come after a similar set of mountainous stages too?

I quite fancy Mate to be in a break. If nothing else, to protect Edet's KoM jersey. But I'm not so sure a break will survive again today.

Edit: Just seen his name pop up on the live ticker, only to discover it's for 'technical services'. I can forget that prediction then.

break

Lloyd Mondory (17),
Bauke Mollema (41),
Danilo Wyss (59)
Juan Jose Oroz (97),
Adam Hansen (143),
Pieter Serry (166).
Edvald Boasson Hagen (192),
Juan Antonio Flecha (214),

If this survives, i am going to say EBH

With a climb at the end? Mollema is by far the best of that group on this sort of climb

i just read that mollema was dropped.

The ticker says mollema nd nuyens dropped.

there might be a mistake as nuyens had abandoned race on stage 14.

A tres kilómetros de la cima se quedan: Mollema, Wyss y Mondory.

does this mean that mollema wyss and mondory were dropped?

the three are 18 secs behind the other 5.

Michele Scarponi (131), Eros Capecchi (2), Bauke Mollema (41), Oliver Zaugg (209), Ben Gastauer (16), Antonio Piedra (67) y Beñat Intxausti (6) también han contactado con este primer grupo. En total, cuatro Movistar en fuga. Los primeros ya descienden el puerto.

what I read from this update, 1 minute ago, is that they contacted the front group...
