The standing v. sitting thing... I think some of the concern comes from the Zonc where there was a bit of gravel strewn on the road and the back wheel would slip... Contador had to sit down, not a big deal, but it takes away a weapon.

It's also a bit of a concern that Horner hasn't ridden this climb, especially since he pushes such a big gear. Remember how Cobo nailed the gearing perfectly (sitting down) and Wiggins was doing the paper boy weave? The Angliru is like the ocean, you can never underestimate it...

Gears for today's climb:

Horner, Samu: 34x32
Nibali: 34x29
Valv: 36x29
Purito: 36x28
Ok, thanks, that looks like a good choice for Horner as he shouldn't be overgeared if he has to sit down.
Purito - powerful!

Nibali+rain+descent=bad news for everyone else. ;) You just watch, Nibali's been saving it for this stage, and today he unleashes it, Horner won't be able to deal with the kind of pain he'll bring.

(I'm going into fanboy mode for the stage. :D)

For the sake of watching some quality racing I hope it does rain and Nibali does attack on the descent.

I'm not really fussed who wins, just want the excitement to be as good as possible. If I had any fanboy(ish) wish then it's that Purito knocks AVV off the podium and that Roche does well.

Huh? And I thought Horner was tactically smart?

Did that Eskaltel guy say something bad about Papi?
