Well, so much work for nothing, but honestly it was obvious that it would end this way, simply not a very smart move of Tony:eek:

Many qualifiers occur to me that would apply to this post, and all of them would get me banned.

For any other rider it would have ended far sooner. What an effort in holding off the entire peloton as they set up their sprinters.

So unlucky Tony! I really thought he had that with 200 metres to go... just 10 metres too many.

I would be willing to bet he was just doing it for training for the World Championships and not expecting to have a reasonable shot at the stage win.

Wow my heart is crying for Martin! It's a shame Cancellara decided he would get involved in a sprint just today. And Morkov what the hell?! I know the sprint field is a bit thin but this is extreme...

Rasmussen got rid of most of the sprinters from the very front of the bunch. So it was a strange crowd contesting it.

I can't believe Cancellara dragged the sprinters up to Martin.

He didn't drag anyone, he finished 3rd and he believed he could win. It's just a real shame as Tony nearly held on.

Well and this is the second stage win of the Vuelta for saxo.

Pretty good after a disappointing Tour.

I'm as disappointed as everyone else that Martin didn't win, but Cancellara's move was one that gave him a legitimate chance to win. The sprinters were dying after Rasmussen and Cancellara did their turns on the front.
