a very good ride by gilbert and stybar.

i don't understand this stybar bashing.

he was pulling about as much as gilbert. when the road became narrow, gilbert was in the front, and i dont think gilbert was letting stybar go in the front for the turns.

also, stybar had attacked very early, and gilbert was in his slipstream for a fairly long distance.
all i can think is that gilbert timed his final sprint a fraction of a sec late. otherwise, he could have easily taken stybar.

Awesome win by Stybar! What an exciting rider! Kudos to him!

Good to see Flecha going for the WT points. He may be joining some team that may need those points.

He had Meersman behind. Cycling is not a pulling contest. It's about crossing the line first.

not meersman. it was fenn who finished 6th for opqs.

So close to that first win for Phil, and yet so far away still. Got to give him credit for a great break in the final there. Great win for Stybar as well. He's achieved his goal this Vuelta.

are you a gilbert fan?

Me? Yeah, I like him. He has been pretty embarrassing this year, but I'd like to see him get a win this Vuelta. He deserves a win after the year he's had.

Martin said in interviews beforehand that he was the GC rider, but that he wasn't going to ride conservatively just to preserve a minor GC placing. I suspect that with Garmin's collective TTT crash and his crash today costing him more than three minutes between the two incidents that whatever GC ambitions he had will be given even less priority.

The 'sprint trains' in this race are embarrassing.

Lol, the sprinters and their teams in this race are so weak

Becoz OPQS did not need to sprint both days. It was always OPQS effort to chase back all the leading ones in front. And when they were not doing, , it was so pleasant to watch Argos waiting for the luck of a possible sprint. :D:D

Martin got a 20s penalty, so he is even further back. He certainly wanted to do GC, what he said was he rather win some stages and finish 27th then finish 8th without trying to win stages (not exactly in this way but i cba to search for it)

Yes. Its probably normal for riders to have on and off seasons, but that is not as fun as a curse.

It might be normal in many cases, but in Gilbert's case the fluctuations are so ridiculous I'd say it's... not normal.

Mods, I'm just using the word the quoted poster used...

Why the need for the second paragraph if nothing was wrong with the first? ;)

I'm just kidding :p

BTW for those who haven't seen it:
