I've seen the video several times, I've checked the profile several times, and of course I have enjoyed the 25th symphony.;)

If Fiesole wouldn't kick up a bit in the end, you would hardly consider this a climb. First three kms are false flat more or less. It's just rolling on the big ring. Then it's two kms at about 7,5%. I really can't see a problem for Cancellara.

Saying Cance has no chance is fair, although I disagree (he's incredibly strong right now, I believe). But stating that Gilbert does makes no sence considering the aforementioned. From what we have seen this year Cance is way stronger in the longer climbs. Gilbert was often dropped from Cance's group in the tough Vuelta-stages for example.

Edit: Funny thing is that after this post I saw Cance stating (Feltet.dk) that he believes he and Gilbert are the favorites. He doesn't believe Sagan has enough miles in his legs after just riding in North America.

if no one has super super legs, the biggest faves will probably mark one another out. so i think we'll see a highly tactical race with one of the outsiders / second tier favourites winning. a suckerpunch move by a strong rider might be enough, just like in mendrisio. gesink, froome, martin come to mind...

should be a good one, this

After seen some videos, i come to the conclusion that the parts between the two short climbs, are mostly dragging at a gradient of 1/2%. Not really tough, but after the Fiesole and the steep wall of Via, hard enough to drop riders for a type like Cancellara.

This course also suits really guys like Piti, Jrod and Nibali, and if they make the race a hard one, they could strangle out guys like Sagan and Canc, because Fiesole and that wall is hard enough to make it a real climber become world champion. I think the course is tougher dan Mendrisio, because with the latter one they had some really flat parts, in Florence it is downhill or uphill. Even the last 2 k will be really fast, and not difficult for a rider to survive if he's solo.

An awful lot depends on the impact of Fiesole. If it's beneficial for hilly riders of climbers than this WC course is incredibly overated, and it's not overly steep to begin with:eek:

Damn, I want Zomegnan to make a WC parcours:eek:

Is there any real reason Mark Cavendish the Manx Missile can't win? He's won a huge number of stages in the Tour de France, the biggest race in the world.

If you cut the sharks teeth out of the stage profile he would be in with a shout. Otherwise no chance. He is not known for his climbing ability.
