Not so surprising, he´s been in form up to and since Down under, was expected to be honest.

Frankly, I haven't followed much cycling thus far so I'll take your word.
It's still a dominant performance in my books. Nobody was even close, and we're talking some of the best TTers in the world (Panzer, Malori, Cancellara).

Dominant ride by Phinney. Thought Castroviejo might have finished higher.

I thought he rode San Luis.

True, he did win with a fairly huge margin, but it´s still just a first warm up race for most, a bit disappointing time by Tony and also by Canc, however an awesome time by Lasse Norman, very good debut.

3, 2, 1. And 1 at intermediates.

Well, with Phinney's dominance today these will do very little to take the GC win away if the American stays on his bike.

Sprinter train analysis coming up.

yeah phinney elt he should have beaten malori in san luis but ran out of gears for downhill which probably lost him a chunk of time, big year for him as he is improving while his rivals are pretty much going be at same level.

Impressive from hansen, JV will like that his faith has been rewarded with that pick up as will my cq futures teams.

He didn't ride Down Under, and in the race he actually rode Malori beat him... whom he now beat by 30 seconds, totally expected according to you.

That is a very good performance by Norman. Congrats to him.

Amazing performance. His first ever race as pro and he finished 3rd ahead of Martin and Spartacus.

I'm watching those helicopter shots of the city and thinking how monumental all the skyscrapers and luxury will look after several hundreds of years...
Like pyramids!

Read an interview with Norman where he said that he almost crashed in the last corner.

And he crashed at the Olympics... might just be me; but I'm starting to see a slight trend here. :p

Phinney comes from individual pursuit so short ITTs suit him as a glove. Being still good at longer efforts.
BMC started the year in an impressive form (Evans, Stetina, Atapuma and now Phinney). It makes me think the sponsor wants some quick results.

GC? There is a small climb on stage 3 ... any small bump means MiniPhinney is getting dropped.

I don't follow Phinney very closely, but he finished same time as the winner in the first group at MSR last year. Maybe he isn't too daunted by a hill?

Lol, yeah sure, you could also have said he was on form since Tropicale Ammisa Bongo ;)

That's probably his only result in a race with a climb though... maybe the weather didn't get to him as much as the featherweights.

Truth be told I haven't given much attention to this race (aside from laughing at how it's been promoted). Phinney has made it over hills before (MSR being the best example), but I'd have to see the profile for the climb. We'll see, as of now I'll be hoping he can make it.

Olympics might be considered hilly as well, I doubt that he can win overall but he might be able do it.
