A long tough TT rarely lies imo. Here from PV this year:

1 MARTIN Tony [www.procyclingstats.com] Omega Pharma - Quick-Step 6 50 38:33 40.311
2 CONTADOR Alberto Tinkoff-Saxo 4 30 0:07 40.190
3 KWIATKOWSKI Michal Omega Pharma - Quick-Step 2 18 0:15 40.052
4 SPILAK Simon Team Katusha 1 13 0:16 40.034
5 PERAUD Jean-Christophe [www.procyclingstats.com] AG2R La Mondiale 1 10 0:35 39.710
6 DUMOULIN Tom Team Giant-Shimano 7 0:38 39.660
7 IZAGIRRE Ion Movistar Team 4 0:41 39.609
8 VALVERDE Alejandro Movistar Team 3 1:02 39.259
9 VAN GARDEREN Tejay BMC Racing Team 2 1:05 39.209
10 PINOT Thibaut [www.procyclingstats.com] FDJ.fr 1 1:25 38.882
11 EVANS Cadel BMC Racing Team 1:27 38.850

He could be in the mix at the Giro, but lets see if he has improved in Trentino.

Most of those riders ahead of him are not riding the Giro but by his standards it was a convincing beating. I remember Moreau saying that as he aged into his mid to late thirties it was the TT he found much harder but the climbing was pretty much maintained at the same level. Evans has not done a really good TT since he won the 2011 Tour so maybe some truth in that. Evans admitted in last year's Giro that he found the shorter explosive TT's harder now. He did well in the first Giro TT but terrible in the second shorter one.

I see sky are second favourites for this ttt surely only having six riders will hinder their chances.

Only just looked at the line-ups, is this the seniors race?? All of the main leaders seem to be over 30 (Evans, Basso, Scarponi, Wiggins, Pelizotti, Niemiec, Anton, Pozzovivo) apart from Machado. Hopefully, Cataldo will be allowed to go for GC to give him practice before the Giro D'Italia.

You're forgetting plenty of italian young riders.

Gutted. This is one of my favourite races and was looking forward to this all weekend (more so than Fleche Wallonne, which to be fair should only be televised for the last five minutes).

Cannondale's team:
41.BASSO Ivan
42.BENNETT George
43.CARUSO Damiano
44.MOSER Moreno
45.SABATINI Fabio
46.SALERNO Cristiano
48.FORMOLO Davide
48.VIVIANI Elia

Damn strong on paper for GC and the team usually performs very well in TTTs.

And then Viviani to go for some of the flat stages. lol.

Looking forward to it.

I understand this is the same TTT as in '12 where BMC won:

Pic from steephill.tv

Team back then:
41 BALLAN Alessandro ITA
42 FRANK Mathias SUI
43 PHINNEY Taylor USA
44 PINOTTI Marco ITA
45 EIJSSEN Yannick BEL
46 SANTAROMITA Ivan ITA
47 ROE Thimothy AUS
48 WYSS Danilo SUI

Today's team lacks a bit of firepower methinks.

And check out the surroundings on the picture. Trentino is a marvelous area.

It's hard for me to believe that Anton is over 30. Seems like just yesterday that he was one of the young lions of stage racing soon to be winning big races. Time flies!:(

Based on the start list, Wiggo may have a chance to win this one. If he wins the race, he might consider giving the Giro another shot.

no, not at all, today's course is way more technical. It's the same one as in 2011, when it was an ITT and Klöden won

ok, "forced" to dig deeper.

'12 (14,3km, winning time:15:50 ):

Details, details....clearly not my strength. Thanks.

Anyway it will be interesting to see the difference in the winning time.

Yes. It looks like really good team to support Basso. It has been a while since we saw him on podium. I hope he will make it this time. I wish we can see also Moser finding back the form after the injury. Go green power! :)
