There's a difference between continuing to ride and an attack. When the camera cut back to them it looked like they putting in a big dig.

As they should have. This is a sport, not a f*cking tea party. Every one of these guys understands the risks and dangers they face and I doubt a one of them will be critical of Evans and BMC for this. If I were an adversary, I certainly wouldn't whine about it afterwards. It's my job to stay up front and upright. If I don't, that's on me, not the fellow who had better awareness than I.

I think we really can stop classifying Bling as a sprinter now. And it's a good choice by him to focus on harder parcours.
He is great, becoming one of mine favourite riders.

Kelderman best of the 2nd group. Says enough really
Looking pretty good indeed, but lets wait for the big climbs.

Pretty good stage action-wise in the end. For the wrong reasons though of course.
This unfortunately:eek:

Evans doing everything right, congratulations!
Quintana is starting to realize that being considered a big favorite is not enough to win a GT.

he will ride zoncolan up and down and Evans will be only half way through,so no worries.
Of course it will be more interesting this way he should hold it at least until Oropa;) (Evans)

if you're a GC and you're not up front of the peloton at the critical moments, then get caught behind or in a crash, you've only yourself and your team to blame

this kind of thing plagued Evans earlier in his career

Which team would have actually waited or even just not put the hammer down? Sucks when a crash influences a race but that is racing and it is always going to happen. :(

Evans shouldn't be underestimated. its in stages like this that he makes time. in others, he will just try to not lose much time.

Quintana and Movistar will be forced to ride the real mountains very hard soon.

i dont think tht the GC guys should be giving so many freebies to Evans, unless they are forcing BMC to take responsibility of pink.

Look at Evans last week last year. The guy doesn't have the recovery anymore.

are we losing gentlemen in peloton?

No, we are gaining men.

It was the crash that enabled them to break away. It may have been a continuation of racing, but that racing was at a higher pace then it would have been otherwise and it took advantage of the crash.

The pace was already on after the front group was caught. Where was the chase from Quintana ? Evans rides at the front always, towards the end of stages and it's even more important in the rain. The others should take note.

Quitana looks far from a GT patron and Movi were useless when they are needed. Cadel on the other hand was well protected and BMC did great. Mathews is having the time of his life. Basso came with the second group. Montecassino slaughter redivivus. Of course Quintana can destroy Cadel on Grappa and Zoncolan but it remaina to be seen. The bad luck continues for Purito.

They were already drilling before the crash, competing with OPQS to lead the peloton into the roundabout. That's why they made it through unscathed along with the Maglia Rosa.

I certainly hope so. I don't ever recall Eddy or Hinault slowing down because an opponent crashed or had a mechanical. Eddy did try to refuse to wear the maillot jaune after Ocana crashed, but I don't recall that he stopped or slowed down to see if Ocana would get up.

So they 'should' have attacked after the crash?

Its over people, Cadel will win by a landslide and cement his place in history as one of the greatest of all time.

Which means you don´t know much about the history of cycling.
So sad.
