Are you serious? Where did I blame Lampre? All I said is that they did not and never act as a team with focus on their leader. If Costa did not manage to win is irrelevant. My post on that was waaay before the finish so I don't know where you got that idea from.

You constantly moan about Lampre. Perhaps you should take a closer look at their so called captain.

And what does that have to do with not blaming Costa? What makes you think I don't? That has nothing to do with my original post. Nothing. It was way before the finish, and stating an observable fact. Why you have to pick my words and twist them into something completely non-related, I can't understand.

Kind of funny seeing EBH go from around 15th position to shooting out the back of the peloton within the first meters of the last climb. In 2010 he was amongst the strongest riders in the same race, covering all attacks and easily winning the sprint for second...

Anyway, how good is Navardauskas? Starting to look like a good bet for Worlds.

I see Davide Formolo is 14th. Pretty good for a 21 year old. Italy has a bright future as far as cycling is concerned!

Anyway, the race missed some real attackers in the end so as to make a more select group as the previous years. I hope Montréal won't miss someone like Sagan, who turned the race apart last year.

Only his second race after DNF'ng from the Tour. I'd say he did well. And you know that once he saw such a big group after Potasse he likely eased his pace. A top 10 was irrelevant.

Dont agree with the first part, But I do like your optimism towards Rui's form. :)

But he needs to improve to contend.

Of course it can be frustrating to see one of your riders finish second tha often (Dumoulin), but nonetheless this is a very good result from him. He did all he could possibly do, Gerrans was just in a league of his own when he accelerated. Good ride from Dumoulin, bodes well for the future.

Good afternoon, friends :)

Did you see the race? What did you think?
Well, I for one preferred last year's parcours, it was harder and made a bigger selection. The race ended up being disputed by a sprint, however, from a somewhat reduced group.
First of all, allow me to thank my entire team Lampre-Merida for the wonderful work they did for me. They deserved a better result from me, which I also wanted, but the way the race developed and the route itself prevented it. I had good sensations in my legs and I was motivated, but it did not happen they way we wanted. First, I'm no sprint specialist and when there's a lot of confusion coming to the line, I prefer not to be in the mix so as to avoid crashes. Second, I got somewhat boxed. Lastly, there was a crash right in front of me which took away all the possibilities of a better result. Hopefully things will be better sunday. So we hope, and for that, we're going to work all together.
Thank you my friends for always being alongside me not just when I win. I'm going to the massage now. I wish you a good night.

That hug to all,
Rui Costa :)

Fortunately, Costa will have another chance on Sunday, on a parcours that probably suits him better anyway.

Credit where credit is due. Gerrans did it perfectly, and kind of deserved it after he made it back from suffering a puncture with 20 km to go.
Too bad that front group stopped cooperating once those 4 joined them.

Gerrans was back on reallllly fast while the bunch was riding hard on the hilly zone. Maybe he had to make less of an effort now than being in the bunch. We will never know though and it happens all the time in cycling.

I really hope this isn't some wonder year of Dumoulin. If he has a normal development he should get better and those 2nd places will turn into more wins.

Im a bit worried regarding that though, since dutch talents always seem to peak at the age of 23.

lol that's really bs. I'm pretty sure Mollema and Terpstra for example are way better now than at age 23 and have better results as well.
There is no general peak age for a certain country :D

It's cliché talk based on Thomas Dekker (well, doh) and Gesink (of course, there are no obvious reasons why everything went a bit downhill after his 24th...)

Dumoulin is already much better than he was 2 or 3 years ago. Who would have guessed that he would be the 2nd best TTist in the world, and not Durbridge or Phinney, for example? The kid is progressing very fast, and there's no reason to assume that will suddenly halt.

Thing is that you can never really tell. Like you said we all expected Phinney and Durbridge would be challenging Martin now, but they are not. I can only hope Dumoulin progresses more, because he's pretty amazing right now and would be awesome if he did progress.
He does have an explosion in his legs which Martin doesn't have for example and he does seem to develop the engine and power to ride the classics unlike Martin.
I think it's a matter of time he starts winning a short stage race. He allready would've if he rode for a stronger team regarding stage races.

He's my pick for Montreal>saw @DT already had that too.
I had Gerrans for this race and GVA for Quebec, maybe they might switch.

Bardet and Vanendert are my two other picks.

17 times for a total of 205km.

Going with Preidler, long distance.

Otherwise Gerro from a group sprint.
