What a horrible race. :(:(:(

Gerrans was really strong, sure deserved win. But winning a hilly one day race with a sprint train is just awful.

I really really hope other teams/countries learn from this. You have to make the race harder if you don't have a rider like Gerrans in your team. Isolate him or drop him. When isolated you can attack and he has to put his nose in the wind.

If they didn't learn after L-B-L they aren't going to learn now.

Sep Vanmarcke

starts sprint in 3rd position, finishes outside top 10. Had that been Mollema it would've been a sure podium. Belkin

Yes sep was so tired, but he was able to figth for position because he is one of the best doing that, not like mollema that always is about 20 spot when he has to sprint, is not a belkin fail, it is mollema fail, kruisjwijk has help vanmarcke and hivert, but bauke lost the wheel or something similar.

There are real climbs there.

Game over if he starts the final climb in the leading group though
If Boonen and Cancellara are thinking they can feature there, than it's a walk in the park for Gerrans.
But I think the cobblers are either bluffing or underestimating the course.

Yeah exactly. I remember in previous edition at least from the penulimate lap it was raining attacks by pretty big names, but now the fireworks only started in the last lap.

They actually had Gerrans isolated at one point in the final lap. When Costa attacked on the long climb. I remember I saw Gallopin cleverly taking Gerrans' wheel forcing him to work, making a jump to the front group with Gallopin in his wheel. Later Gallopin let a gap fall when Wellens was riding at the front, again forcing others to work. Gallopin was riding a very clever and strong race. This would've been a perfect tactic by Gallopin if Lotto had made the race harder earlier on. Make Vanendert go crazy in the penultimate lap or something; Lotto had the team to do this. But because the race was so easy until the last lap, after that long climb in the final lap when the firework started, okay, sure Gerrans was isolated in a front group, but all the Greenedge minions came back immediately and killed the race, because they weren't that far away. If half of them had been dropped before, it would've been a different race. If Lampre, Belkin and Lotto would've started making the race earlier, the attacks by Costa and Mollema and the clever riding by Gallopin could have been fruitful.

Good race. And oh boy, if it was not wheelsucker Costa with the attacks...

Grats to Gerro. And WC will be raced much harder, even if just on the last lap. Gerrans would have been gone for good if the break after Costa's attack on Camillien-Houde had worked. Stop the drama. And if Simon wins, he will be a worthy champion.

Costa by far the strongest on the race.

Really hope that Spain doesn't bet on Valverde beating Gerrans in a reduced sprint. Imagine the lame racing

Don't worry Italy will make the race hard, they always do. They won't win it, but the will bring a lot of excitement, action and chaos. :)

SG rides to his strengths which has won him two monuments and multiple GT stages. Any race he wins he is a worthy winner. Its for other teams to look at themselves and answer how they were so stupid to let him be there in the finale though.

Speaking of which, what on earth was Astana doing, chasing down the break pretty much by themselves  unbelievable
