It was 21 km, where do you have that 10 km from?

Edit: Ah, some of the other categories was 10.5 km, half the elite course.

Ah, that explains it. I read it on procyclinstats.com or cqranking.com or something of the like. I thought it was strange, 27 minutes and 10 km doesn't seem to match so I concluded it must have been uphill. 21 km is still too short but much better than 10 km.

Thank you for that assessment. I will bring it up at the next board meeting

I guess it was one third or one quarter of the race, not half of it. Anyway, he's in the lead by now :p
There's no real competition anyway

Reminds me of last years Swiss national TT where Cancellara wasn't able to get a warm up in before his TT and was forced to do his warm up during the race. And of course still won. :D

:D Now Flo's post in the Contador thread the other day about most Spanish rider boycotting nationals makes sense.

Hoping Izagirre for the road race.

german news about tony martin's win:

http://www.radsport-news.com/sport/sportnews_88159.htm

had to copy-paste taxt to translator to read it.

it says that Tony Martin road in poor visibility condition, and missed a turn. he lost about a min in returning back to the course. he still managed to win by a huge margin/

In TT terms, he was riding against club riders, so losing a minute it is the minimum required to make it a respectable ride for a world champion.

Hard but fair.

Martin should club that field like baby seals. He may have had a problem motivating himself to really turn himself inside out, knowing that he could stop and sign autographs and still win.

Not sure what to think of Nelson winning the Portuguese TT. I've got nothing against him, I just hope these championships aren't the only TT he has the freedom to race competitively this year.

Hungarian results:

Gabor Fejes defends his title again. That makes it 5 in a row for him and he just turned 25. It's a shame he doesn't want to take cycling seriously because his TT talent is huge, he basically doesn't race all year (or against very, very weak fields) and then beats the guys from conti teams handily. However, it is fair to mention that Utensilnord only started 2 (very young) guys. I don't think it made much of a difference, but Zsolt Der could have challenged.

Podium (32.4 km):

1 Gabor Fejes (Batorfi Agria) 41:33
2 Krisztian Lovassy (Fixit.no) 41:51
3 Peter Kusztor (Amplatz-BMC) 42:06

U23 results (same course):

1 Janos Pelikan (Utensilnord) 43:24
2 Zoltan Lengyel (Utensilnord) 43:43
3 Mate Mogyorosi (Hungarofondo) 44:31

It's a shame Abel Kenyeres didn't start, he could have fought to defend his title, but I guess Utensilnord focuses on the road race and rested their main guys. My guess is that Der takes it but Lovassy and Kusztor should be up there as well.

ah right, puts Arndt's close time in perspective.

From the results, i still think Arndt is damn good. I mean panzer had put a min to even likes of canc/wigg. even if we assume that TM didnt make tht error, Arndt wud have been wthin 2 min. thts a sure shot top-10 chance in a GT

pity the UCI rules means Ryan Mullen is not the Irish Champion.

Firmly believe the nationals need to change the time trial types each year. They always seems to be long 40km + tests. A hill 10km or shorter 15-20km would be nice changes from time to time.

Not sure.

Is Didier really that great a representative of a country's TT'ing power?

I mean in contrast to Jungels?

I don't mind a hill and a few technical parts, but for me a real TT champ is somebody who can go really fast for about 1 hour.
