I think Peraud have no reason to attack, he just need to stay with Pinot on the mountains and he will pass him on ITT for sure. In my opinion Peraud should ride conservatively today and tomorrow, it's his best chance to get on podium.

About Majka, it would be huge mistake if Purito goes to the break and he will not.

I agree that Pinot will be more likely to attack than Peraud, but Peraud definitely has interests in exploiting any weakness that Valverde may show. As for the TT, in a hilly TT after nearly 3 weeks of racing, there are likely to be surprises and how strong a rider still is will be very important.

As for Majka, getting into a breakaway is not just a case of wanting to be there. If Purito is in the break, but not Majka that will ensure a proper chase by Saxo rather than Astana making a steady tempo.

Interesting options and dilemmas in the KOM competition.
To play on one card - the last climb, or not, and how the opponent(s) will respond to the tactics?
Anyway, there are Tourmalet and Hautacam for correction and like a warning not to burn all the matches too soon.

Edit:
I think that Purito can't play on the one card. He doesn't have the legs, it seems.

after reading 5 pages, i am actually hoping that Nibali crashes out in this stage. sorry Nibali fans, but thts wht u guys have made me think.

This has to be majka or jrod, or both sprinting uphill. at least thats wht it says on paper.

Porte is pathetic now. but not sure whether it is the post rest-day thingy. Anyways porte is a lottery. sometimes he wins.

I would have backed Purito ftw even if AC and dawg were riding this stage. But in his current form, he has the least chance for win.

TommyV was pretty ****ed off after losing yest stage. Europcar havent got a stage win yet. and they just fell out of top-10 GC so they will do anything for it.

If Majka is not winning, then it is a lottery for the break.

The only Nibali fan who has spoken at length about Nibali in this thread is Max. You hope VN crashes out because Max is annoying?

Yeah, of course if Piti shows weakness, but Peraud should be very careful with Valverde and concentrate to keep Pinot in distance. I really think 3rd place is battle between Pinot and Peraud. I'm aware what you said about TT and still I think Peraud will destroy Pinot in TT.

That breakaway thing, Majka should just follow Purito and see what happens. In the break Purito will take at least 30 points and if Majka stays with "big guns" he will not be in top5. It's too risky for Majka not to follow Rodriguez.

Yes , seems you cant be a VN fan on this site. So far only 2 people have picked VN to win this stage....bad boys ! And Max doesn't start his posts in an aggressive manner. And immediately the storm comes.

1. AC
2. Froome
3. Qunitana
4. Pinot

This will be a great stage.

Exactly 40 years ago they had finish at the same mountain as today..
Eddy Merckx had a bad day, so Poulidor attacked on the bottom of the climb gaining two minutes on the cannibal...

Maybe a replay today, with Nibali as Merckx and Pinot as Poulidor :p
That would surely be epic, and opening op the race....!!!

Only 8 in the break so still a few points to fight for in the peloton. Majka wont contest those I think since his plan it to strike on the last climb. Purito should be able to grasp those, but I think Katusha will want to keep the break in a leash and then Purito can easily bridge on the first climb

For one time we can see the beginning of the stage. Nothing interesting.

Its not over yet. Just wait for the first climb. There Purito and other climber will attack. These short stages will be action packed all day
