Talansky has put into the same time as the winner, just as Vansummeren, Kwiatkowski, Trentin and Cavendish

I have no idea, but it did look like he banged his head into the ground and the commentators did speculated on whether or not he might have gotten a concussion. :(

Have no doubt that before the day is out Cavendish will do an interview blaming, Gerrans, someone's dog or maybe Wicca for getting in his way and causing this "terrible" accident and it really isn't fair, and I wanted to win here because this is where I grew up and ........

In other words normal detestable Cavendish.

Apologies if this is too image heavy.

I don't think you can apportion blame to Simon Gerrans just for being Simon Gerrans though. He isn't a pure sprinter, but the finish was a bit complex and he has enough of a sprint to be able to get himself up there. And as has been mentioned before - he could have a chance to get the maillot jaune in tomorrow's stage if he gets a good placement in the sprint today, so he has that motivation as well. Maybe a more muscular rider could have resisted Cavendish's barging without an accident, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't the barging that caused the crash.

I think people are being over the top in how bad they see this compared to, say, Roberto Ferrari in the 2012 Giro stage to Horsens, but I also think people are being a bit keen to absolve Cavendish of blame that he by rights should have to shoulder as well.

Yes, I agree that Gerrans is not to blame for the crash. My point is that what Cavendish did looked way more violent ( and caused the crash) because the rider next to him wasn't a 'real' bunch sprinter and therefore not used to such tough fights. But the crash was Cav's fault indeed.

Obviously not THAT big of a fan then.....get up to speed man!

Please just stop it, if I cannot go to a main cycling page for debate, only because of immature people like yourself, In real life, you spoil your real life friend if they told you they would be watching it later? I think not, so don't act any different online just because you ain't watching straight into people's eyes.

On topic, Cavendish clearly don't deserve to stay in the race after this, but fortunately for the Tour de France leadership, they don't have to throw him out... shame we always have to say goodbye to great cyclists at the start of any grand tour.

Cavendish just blindly panicked. He has no business doing what he did, just absurd. He was in Sagan/Kittel's wheel !

Just put JRSlims on ignore then you won't see any scores. I did it as soon as I saw the first posting with a score.

exactly, my take he wants to get out of this line to start his sprint but G was in his way, so he head bumped G
