196 of the original 198 starters have set out from Cambridge. Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) abandoned on the road to Sheffield yesterday, suffering from a viral infection. "I'm feeling huge disappointment because I've not been able to repay the faith of my team, sponsors and teammates," Modolo said. The other absentee, of course, is Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-QuickStep), who was injured when he crashed in the finishing straight on stage 1 in Harrogate.

Netserk said:Will be 'fun' to see (some of) the GC riders 'sprint' at the end of the stage today and tomorrow to get a good car placing for the cobbles. So far the standings of the 21 riders in GC:
Jagartrott said:Standings of what exactly?
Why 21 riders?
Nibs will want to wear yellow in the cobble stage.glassmoon said:Wonder whether Nibali will give up the yellow intentionally.
Kittel will win with Sagan in the bunch (possibly in yellow).
Pricey_sky said:There are still 21 riders who are on the same time behind Nibali, on stage 5 car placing could be crucial on the cobbles so you need a guy as high up on GC as possible. When times are level they count back previous stage positions so if a GC guy gets himself into the top 7/8 today he could move up the standings and have a car nearer the front of the queue incase of problems.

MartinGT said:If Nibbles stays in Yellow, I would be happy with that.
mrhender said:He will..
I have a feeling of total chaos in the last turn.. (not hoping for crash of course)
Spartacus to make a move and win by 3-5 seconds..
No problem for yellow cause he's 35 sec back![]()
Lance Armstrong said:It is not very sharp or narrow. I doubt anyone can make a move there.
mrhender said:I know it isn't..
This stage is like Champs Ellysées junior...
The trains will be battling hard to beeing first on the right side IMO..
Just too boring with a Kittel win by three bike lenghts for me, so hope for something else...
But just a feeling of course.. Not a definitive truth![]()
