Hrm, so TJVG and Valverde stuck out the back eh. Huge amount of Movistar riders working together though.

All damage has been done by crashes before the first cobbled section. Did they all forget how to ride a bike in the rain?:(:eek:

This really, it's not like the cobbles did Froome in. He seemed stressed beyond belief from the start, and that plus the rain made him crash. It's not exactly ASO's fault that Froome struggles with handling pressure, or his bike.

And to those thinking it's going to be easy for Contador, what has he shown in GC to make you believe he will be superior to Valverde/Nibali this tour. This is not the pre-suspension Contador and last year Kreuziger was better than him.

Can he win it? Sure.
Will it be an easier win than it would have been for Froome? Unlikely.

Brailsford's heading back to his hotel already, a revolver in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other.

One GC rider down. The rest got through the first section fine. Over the top much from most here?

Contador vs froome was the main event everyone was looking forward to.
Now we've got a much less intriguing race.
Entirely warranted reaction imo.

If Froome's wrist isn't too badly broken I imagine that Froomey, Contador & Quintana will battle it out in Spain.

Battle it out? Froome will spank everyone in La Vuelta. Would love it as if Froome wins and beats Quintana in process he will be the best of year as in the strongest. He will prove that if he wins it as Quintana is on Contador's level and above Nibali. It will be a trade off as Quintana will have Giro in legs and Froome would have come off injury.

Last year we'll see cobbles for a while.

I would do the oposit. Announce another cobble stage for next year and probably some GC riders start to learn to ride on cobbles.

Eurosport commentators absolutely gutted :cool::cool:
For the last 10 minutes they mentioned him like 50 times!!

"If its too much for Froome, it's pretty much too much for anybody"
