Okay, Fuglsang was dropped and Kangert was told to wait for him. I don't read the Astana press releases, sorry either way, they weren't caught off-guard.

Voecklers glory days are over since the start of this year. He comes short in all his attempts this year, unfortunately. A rider that I really started to love over the last years. I used to dislike him, but his "I always attack" mentality won me over. I actually started liking his silly faces

It seems like most of the action might be before live coverage starts. Is it to be covered and taped? If so, will any channel, or the host broadcaster, be brave enough to show much of it in preference to live coverage of fairly static phases of the race?

Or will more interesting coverage be available only in the highlights programmes?

This could be one of those stages where all the early action and the formation of the break is way more interesting than the stage itself (like stage 9, 2013). But I doubt there will be any full footage of the earlier parts of the stage. I don't think we'll see any footage that isn't part of the live transmission - except the brief recorded snippets they usually show just before the start of the live broadcast.

They were caught off-guard, yesterday. I feel Birdsong and Scarponi will be up there with Nibali till AC takes things into his own hands. Stage 10 will do some damage to Astana but I doubt it'll be significant enough.

They weren't exactly caught off-guard. Fuglsang was/is sick and Kangert were send back to help him for whatever reason.

"Caught off guard" during the first little stretch upwards doesnt sound that comfortable, tactical wise, does it?

And whilst "caught off guard" they spent a crash-battered Kangert to pace a sick Birdsong because the latter has GC-ambitions on his own and whines about the idea of helping Nibbles, to Greg Lemond.

A little further up we had Scarponi hanging on for dear life, in the trail of TCS.

And all this at a category 3.

Following formations of breakaway in those kind of stages tends 9 out of 10 times to be far more exiting than the race itself.

What dull minds at ASO/France2/3 have planned this?
