Wonder who will control the race?

Break(Barguil/Couqard) FTW

Tony Martin to brush up his wheelsucking skills. He will be lucky if he didnt lose yellow jersey in this stage.

andy schleck solo win

he will attack for sure. i m not sure whether he will attack in the base of the climb or not.

no idea whether he will win or not.
As he is 5 min behind, i dont think anyone will care to mark him.

Costa really wants to win the overall. He probably wants a stage win as well but he is wearing the rainbow jersey so he will probably be third or something. I'm still waiting for Kreuziger to do something....fingers crossed.

Well, when he's leading by 5 minutes they'll regret it.

iv been really hard on andy schleck in the last few months , only because he has frustrated me so much with relentless non performances , if he is ever going to show any form whatsoever before the tour it has to be here on this stage at verbier , if the performance is not a positive one then he does not deserve to ride the tour its as simple as that .

this is his big chance to prove he still has something to offer and silence the doubters .

come on andy !!!

He's had a weird race so far. Against this kind of opposition he should be significantly higher up in the overall classification.

Yes, that's what I've been thinking. I want to see him do well for his own sake, but I'm also hoping he performs strong and carries good form into the Tour. Tinkov will need it. :)

Neither Frank nor Costa is an explosive rider. I'll be very interested in seeing just how far Martin can go when he really makes the effort. It's hard to tell, as normally he has no interest in trying to follow uphill. Now he has, so I wonder if these guys can shake him off just like that.

The gaps just reflect his TT skills.

this stage will really distinguish GC riders from the TT specialists. the thing with Verbier is that anyone can create gaps on a good day.

just a reminder of 2009
TM had started with a 5 min adv at the base of the climb. Evans ended up 5 min behind TM.
Kreuziger made @ 4 min wrt TM

Why are you linking to the Ventoux-stage, murali?

http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=12921 - thats the Verbier one

because that one has Tony in 2nd spot. (i know tony wont retain yellow. but if andy schleck can win, then so can tony.)

as my friend would have said, both start with V ;)

i just hope Kreu can make the kind of gaps he got in tht TdF.

one side of my heart still says: Andy will get into the break; attack from the base of climb; and win solo with a 7 min adv.

Are we really going to hype Martin's climbing again? People have been doing it for 5 years now and i am yet to see some delivery.

The guy is 75 kg's, explosive or not, as soon as Costa, Frank, Kreuziger, Mollema and Pinot start moving he will get dropped. Maybe even earlier.

Mollema never moves. Well, not true, he moves for a sprint or last km attack, but otherwise you'll only see him suck wheels

Not hyping at all.

i am thinking out loud: what if TM actually managed to hold on to yellow for one more day.

fs, the best result for him wud be 4 min down the fav group.

Neither does Kreuziger nor Costa nor Frank. But i think Pinot will do something early as he is fairly aggressive and that should lead the others to do something much like last year's stage to la punt.

I just hope someone manages to dislodge Costa from the lead group. if he is part of the lead group, then he will win.

I recall having seen Kreuziger attack several times in his time with Saxo from a long range. Last time was in T-A, where he waited for the Quintana-Contador group on Selva Rotonda. I can also imagine he will be given more freedom to attack now that he's a bit behind.
If he doesn't attack from before 7k's to go, I'd be surprised as he has nothing to lose.

Kreuziger attacks quite a lot though.

Acevedo wins this. Frank second and getting a few seconds on Costa. Chaves to put a solo from 4 k but getting catched in the last 400 m.

Martin to lose his jersey.
