greipel is in the main group according to tv coverage

i guess when you have nathan haas driving the climb a few sprinters will make it in the group

Yes, he was closing on Greipel fast. Another few metres earlier on his sprint and he would have been second as I don't know that he would have been faster than Gerrans - they seemed to be at about the same speed.

two outsiders for this did well ulissi and van hoof competitng well, gerrans is so amazing.

Probably. There are not many around that can climb and sprint like he can. Valverde would be the other obvious one. Not a good finish for the Gorilla but his class made it close.
