I was actually less impressed after i saw the video. All the gap he got on Costa was gained while on the motorbike slipstream, as soon as the bike was gone the gap stayed the same and might even have decreased a bit.

I don't doubt it decreased a bit after the sustained attack over the last kilometer. Last year he would have sat up after a 10 second burst didn't drop the rider. It wasn't like his 2010 effort, which was far more effortless (though that might have been more of a reflection of Machado's level than anything else). I guess we'll see what he has in the legs at TA next week
