Contador still manages to extend his GC lead, looks like Valverde lost a good chunk of time. 20+ seconds?

One thing is for sure, if I was Quintana I would be bashing my head against the wall right now.

I hope that it puts the myth of Contador being great at every kind of slope firmly to rest

Froome showing some more guts there. Keep calm, mind the watts, and grind it out. Smart, smart ride by him again.

Froome blew Contador up lol with his tempo, what a beast he climbed faster than anyone he must been a good 15 secs down at 1 point. He is not even in great shape either.

Considering he was off the back at the start of the steep section, Froome must have gained about a minute on Valverde in less than 3km!

Great riding by Froome. The guy is a true fighter and I'm a true fan now. Also happy with Valverde's attack. Great finale, my mate TANK must be happy.

I'd say 7".

The gaps always so small on the Vuelta, weird...

Everyone on smallest gear... Its more a question of whoever can hold on to one acceleration the longest, after that the gaps barely change.

That's the problem with the Vuelta solution of "if we only make it steeper".

OK, I got it now, took me two stages... Froome rides his tempo, no matter what others do (like wasting energy in attacks, for example Valv today).
And I love it: Because most wrote him off, and hate him outright.
No doubt, will cheer for Froome to win it all now. :D

That was hilarious from Froome. He rode it smart though, did his own pace.

Piti killed himself by not doing that, just like Contador at the end.

Who says super steep climbs can't be entertaining? :p

They can be entertaining. For the 10-15 minutes they spend climbing them. It's the rest of the stage that's terrible. I kind of like the story to develop over time rather than being like a boxing match that has two hours of build-up for a first round knockout.

Clearly he is in good shape, when he beats JRod and AC on a climb not suiting him

Froome is the most exciting climber FACT.

He is when he's so unpredictable like at the moment. Not so much in 2013 alien form.

Bet he wishes Sky would have chased the breakaway harder from much earlier out - he could have had another 10 seconds.
