Certainly not, but that's the way Contador generally tries to gain time on climbs. When on top form he sustains the attacks long enough to go solo and then can settle into more of a rhythm. He just can't sustain them for more than 20 seconds at the moment though.
The spanner in the works is that Froome isn't interested in the slightest in following his attacks. Might be time to re-evaluate for Contador.
