On a similar TT last year, Cancellara beat Martin, similarly not a pan flat TT

Aye, but his form seemed better than it is right now. Can't see him winning it this year. I know some people here are doubting Martin's form as well, but I think he has shown more/better form than FC right now.

Froome to win it. I think Froome is slowly getting into shape and this will mark the beginning

I agree. He's building and staying under the radar. Also I think that given his injury at the Tour was so early and was only a wrist, he would have built a solid base by now, ready to unleash today and in the second half of this Vuelta.

That said, I think all of Contador, Quintana, Valverde, Uran and Aru will not be far behind in the TT.

Please educate me on these great Anacona ITT's. On very similar courses I see him come in 150th at the Giro and 164th at last years Vuelta.

anacona is a good timetrialist. he won't lose a lot. in the vuelta 2012 itt he rode top 30 despite not being in gc and one of the fatest lasdt splits which may indicatie he didn't go full until he saw he was doing a good time. he should do a lot better now even than then. he's also a national itt champion in junior ranks

The steep part of the climb could be too hard for him, but you never know. I think he will crush everyone in the itt on stage 21

that itt is too short and comes after 3 weeks

A few observations from me.

I disagree with people who fancy Valverde to do a good chrono. I just don't see it. In my book, the evidence against him (28th in the Tour ITT, moderate ITT in Vuelta last year and Pais Vasco) outweighs the positives (Spanish ITT, beating Dumoulin in February).

I am amazed how few people have either ignore Uran or see him not too far from Valverde or Quintana. He absolutely smashed the field in Barolo this year. And he looks to be coming into form a bit after a moderate start to the Vuelta.

I have no idea how Malori will ride.

Uran should do good but I have doubts regarding his form. still he was a natural huge itt talent and at quickstep they finally seem to have worked on it

So, the new Bianchi ITT turned out to really have an issue. The frame was so close to the back wheel that it actually touched during a ride. It turned out after they checked the ITT biker after another pair of disappointing TT results in the ENECO Tour.
So Mollema was actually right to blame the bike. Bianchi now fixed the issue, so today will be a new test

it's not very appropiate to test new bikes in impotant time trials, like they did in the tour, i prefer them to use the pico crono, it ia a bad bike but at least wilco kelderman has done decent time trials with that bike.
