Bouhanni finished 8th yesterday ahead of some quality power men. What makes you think he cant get over today's climb within 20 seconds of the lead group?

I think It's the same climb from 2011 Vuelta, I wonder why they did not put the finish much closer like in 2011.

i think it was the same distance then? the descend is furious and gaps can be made there, and then open field to the finish almost

if there will be high speed on the way up, no sprinter will be left, maybe only matthews

Looking at the stage profile, it now makes sense why Sagan was saving his legs today therefore Peťo FTW

It does not make sense to me at all. Either something is wrong in team or he is completely out of form and he will be cruising Vuelta in very slow mode towards the WCRR.

I am quite disappointed. I had never seen to give up so easily the chances for (pink, yellow, red) like I saw yesterday. I know that lot of cyclist take Vuelta as training like Cance e.g. but I doubt they would not have given a shot to be in red if they had that kind of opportunity like Sagan had these two days. It is not quite fair towards his and Vuelta fans.

I did not expect him to ride Vuelta hard but these two stages were not hard at all and he could have enough time to rest next days.
It does not mean I am a less of fan of him but I am just suprised where the old, always eager to win Sagan has disappeared in one month.

Sagan has secured a big contract on a new team. I think hes "helping" other team member out by not being the man to ride for here.

Guys like Nibali, Rogers and Spilak would have attacked on a stage like this.

Hopefully we will see some action today. Winning a stage like this is more prestigious than 16th place in the GC.

I could understand that but I could not see to much helping either yesterday.
I still think that winning the stage and red yersey is much better "pay back" to Cannondale then helping Gatto or Caruso in this kind of unwinnable sprint.

He has matured. Both eyes on stripes.

Looking at the profile from 2011 it looks like the distance from summit to finish is 6 kms longer this year.

Eh. I'm sure he has his reasons.

He has said like 10 times that he is in Vuelta primarily for training and he's aiming to peak for world championships. Who knows what he'll do - maybe he's still not feeling in top condition post-Tour and aims to show up a bit later in the race. Although he didn't ***** and moan like Cancellara, he tweeted yesterday that he wasn't prepared for the heat. Perhaps that's why he was at the back yesterday.

Either way, he must be getting pretty tired of the hype and the prodigal child stuff. Gatto and Sagan have both said numerous times that Cannondale are riding for Gatto, yet still people are either picking him to win every race or questioning his attitude.

They got the order of the GTs mixed up: weather-wise, it would be far better to have the Giro in August-September and the Vuelta in May. Now they have to cancel stages in the Alps because of snow during the Giro, and riders have to ride in 40° during the Vuelta.

It's stupid.

Was there not discussion of them swapping (or possibly alternating on a yearly basis) position in the calender at one point? Can't see RCS being keen but it would make sense weather wise.

Anyway, BOTD: Francisco Javier Aramendia (Caja-Rural), Gert Joeaar (Cofidis), Sebastien Turgot (AG2R-La Mondiale) and Jimmy Engoulvent (Europcar)

Think the GTs are too long in this day and age. Should cut them to 2 weeks

that would completley destroy the gt's. winning a gt means 3 weeks of regularity and great recuperation. a rare talent few possess. any rider can do 2 weeks, but 3 weeks makes the difference. worst idea ever

Yeah, RCS would hate that but on the other hand they could get more of the top riders that would skip a normal Giro and go to the tdf. You could do that every 2 years, it would be a good thing for both, Giro and Vuelta.

I agree with Ryo.
