Hoping Purito will take this, and that Bertie wont lose to much time.

However, my expectation is that Froome will trash everyone.

Yeah. Evans could do very well today. Maybe a top 5.

In recent years, he still has what it takes to do well in the first mountain test, in particular on a short, sharp one like this. His ability to recover, TT and handle long climbs is another story. But I have noted that older riders still have their "punch" intact. Probably the last thing you lose.

He has definitely aged better than "Samu".

I think you are right. Evans might surprise some people today. Although, I hope he does go for stage wins later on, as I agree with you analysis that his recovery and TT are not what they used to be.

Although, now that I am writing this, I can't help myself to think that he will do a great TT on stage 10. Anyhow, time will tell.

Garmin is setting the pace. Dan Martin in super shape?

Martin has looked great so perhaps they want the break caught in the hope he will get bonus seconds when he wins the stage.

Hesejdal might be looking to go for a long range attack, but that seems rather optimistic on the stage today.

Garmin train with Cardoso, Talansky, Hesjedal to set it up for Dan. A memorable day awaits us.

Some 70 km covered in the first two hours.
And that is the leading duo, the peloton is 12 minutes behind.
Suits me just perfect as I will not be able to see any of the action for another two hours or so.

To be fair to Wiggins he has helped Cav on multiple occasions like Ryo said. Cav's WC where he drilled it for several k's near the finish. Stage 18+20 of the 2012 Tour where Wiggins told his team they would ride for Cav and not just soft pedal and allow another break to win (more specific for stage 18). He didn't need to lead Cav out on the final stage but he wanted to thank Cav for his help. It couldn't have been easy for Cav to be a water bottle carrier that Tour.
