Always had a soft spot for Gesink, will he be allowed to ride his own race today or is it all for Kelderman?

He will race for himself, i think the Vuelta is the worst gt for Keldermercks, he's a decent sprinter but he sucks on very steep climbs, he's way better on a stage with multiple long climbs.

Vroome,Vroome it's time to shine.I believe he's eager to deal a blow to the competition after yesterday sprint for 2 seconds.I'm curious if Contador can hold on to him,he surely looks very focused and i don't believe he's not gonna challenge for the GC here. He'll try even if this means he'll not be able to finish the race,he's got the winner takes it all mentality after all.

Looking forward to this stage. While I'd like to see some of the less high-profile GC contenders do something (Aru or Uran), I suspect it'll be Froome's day. Most importantly, we'll get to see how Contador holds up (or his leg). Also, I'm intrigued by who Movistar will be looking after today?

Cadel Evans to do well enough to make it look like he might contend for GC.

After which some people speculate he might podium, these people will be made fun of by more realistic yet slightly annoying people (myself included), after which Evans will drop like a stone every following mountain stage, after which, you know what happens

We don't need another crash just before the climb blocking all contenders from the head of the race

he'll fake a fall :p

I was gonna make fun of keldermann but i don't want bad karma right now.

Kelderman will finally be the first dutchman to not fail or just go for top 10, he's the future of cycling, he will crush Froome

Yeah. Evans could do very well today. Maybe a top 5.

In recent years, he still has what it takes to do well in the first mountain test, in particular on a short, sharp one like this. His ability to recover, TT and handle long climbs is another story. But I have noted that older riders still have their "punch" intact. Probably the last thing you lose.

He has definitely aged better than "Samu".

Predictions
Quintana and Rodriguez will show they're the best prepared
Froome/Contador: one of them is bluffing, at least
Evans and Gesink will do well
Uran and Valverde will fade
Aru and Kelderman, a coin toss
Garmin failed already

Agreed with everything except Evans and Gesink line.

For Evans to do well, Sanchez has to do well or Evans has to abandon his team leader to go for the stage win.

This +1.
Wonder how the bmc leadership dynamic will look if Evans takes 20-30secs on samu today. Hard to see him slowing down to play the good teammate, but totally agree that Evans' gc hopes are futile

He will. I'm sure Evans has enough clout left in the team to get a free role.
At least until he fails

Not so optimistic about Evans and Gesink. Aru has a bigger potential for this stage than Kelderman, but it really is a coin toss at the moment.
Everything else exactly according to my expectations, too.

Evans did say before the Vuelta he would like to help Sanchez here, but Sanchez is so far past it now. Evans should just ride for his own chances in finishes like this where he still has a chance.

Hope they agreed on that fact.
