Wow even a current U17 rider has been picked, he will be 2nd year junior in the year the game ends, that seems a bit optimistic Geraint

Yeah, there are only so many points that can be accrued in the Bahamian national championships, the field on which successive generations of Holoweskos harvest their CQ points.

In my stats summary, I hadn't even included Liam as one of the non-pros: the three I meant there were Affini, Anderberg and Paret-Peintre, all on DJSprtsh's unique-pick-heavy selection. They don't even have a CQ page yet: I'll have to keep a close eye out that they don't crop up in a different spelling.

One late entry, from Karaev. He has been a regular in these games, and the team is 23rd on the popularity of picks chart: I see no reason to suspect cherry picking from the teams already submitted, but if any of you wish to imagine that team in the tables with an asterisk, feel free. He has no unique picks, but has robbed no-one of any.

Karaev
QUINTANA ROJAS Dayer Uberney
POWER Robert
WISNIOWSKI Lukasz
VAN DER POEL Mathieu
MARECZKO Jakub
GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando
VAN DER HAAR Lars
BOSWELL Ian
ZORDAN Andrea
MOHORIC Matej
SARREAU Marc
VALLEE Boris
MANZIN Lorenzo
LEDANOIS Kevin
ANDREETTA Simone
LOPEZ MORENO Miguel Angel
LATOUR Pierre-Roger
RUFFONI Nicola

HilltopFinisher submitted a team with 2 Campbell Flakemores in it. Again, he is a regular participant in CQ games, and I have told him that so long as the replacement is fairly low among the popularity rankings, there should be no difficulty in believing that it was someone on his radar anyway. (Later edit: he has replaced one of the Flakemores with GIBSON Matthew, a unique pick and a member of his youth team)

Karaev's inclusion of Gaviria releases the perhaps unsurprising statistical quirk that Gaviria was absent from all the early submissions, up to Stage 2 of San Luis, but in more than half of those sent in after that.

One other footnote to the team submissions: one entrant , perhaps confusing this with the Career in Decline game, sent in a team of 15 instead of 18 on CN. He then sent, via Velorooms, another team of 15, 7 of whom had been on the original list. With no reply to my having alerted him to my awareness to his ruse, I have entered his team as the 15 names from the first submitted list, plus the first three non-repeated names on the second team. I shall respect his anonymity to protect the guilty.

Later edit: Joelsim had sent an adjusted team that I missed: it was well in advance of the deadline. Per that message, Gaviria and Mareczco have replaced McLay and unique pick Van Lerberghe.

Apologies to Hilltop, Karaev and the unnamed dual-entrant for the use of male pronouns if they are not male.

Thanks for letting me in AC. I made a list of 30+ riders and wanted to select 18 last night but something came up and I had no time to do it. Regarding Gaviria , he is my unique pick in The Youth CQ Game so I would probably selected him even before San Luis...

Also I checked the 2014-2016 game and I am in top 10. I did not expected that so I'm really excited about that game too.

But really, I think I can forget class of 2015-2017. Race over already.:eek:

2 or 3 of your unique picks might turn out to be pretty good. Last year Adam Yates wasn't that popular and he turned out to score more points in the first year than his brother.

I'm really exited for the new edition. I sent my team pretty early and didn't change it for quite obvious "relevations" Mareczko and Gaviria. Also I didn't include riders from my 2014-2016 team that are still eligible and might be pretty good in 2017 (Henao, Mohoric) as I feel more like signing 18 new guys to your already existing team.

No problem for me to include to two teams. I don't understand how you can miss the deadline but whatever.

Interesting to see the teams. I don't find it that surprising that I have the second most popular team. I just went for many of the most obvious picks. Last minute I swapped Van Der Poel for Wisniowski just to make my team a little "less popular". I don't know how much road racing Van Der Poel will do, but in hindsight, I should probably have picked him just as a defensive pick.

Are you getting brothers mixed up, you must have Fredrik Ludvigsson as Tobias has to many points to qualify and he is out injured for a while.

Maybe you right. One of my unique picks (Tanner Putt) just scored 6 points in Australia. :)

Oh yeah, you are right I've didn't know he is having brother at the same team
so no one from me in the Dubai tour

End of month 1

18 selected riders are off the mark:
Name/points/popularity
GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando 56 14
FLAKEMORE Campbell 54 16
CONTRERAS PINZON Rodrigo 50 3
SPOKES Sam 40 1
JARAMILLO DIEZ Daniel Alexander 35 1
VALLEE Boris 19 5
BOSWELL Ian 16 4
MARECZKO Jakub 13 17
ORAM James 13 1
PUTT Tanner 7 1
ZEPUNTKE Ruben 6 9
POWER Robert 5 24
ROOSEN Timo 5 3
DOMONT Axel 5 2
ALAFACI Eugenio 5 1
WATSON Calvin 5 1
QUINTANA ROJAS Dayer Uberney 4 26
MARINI Nicolas 3 1

And all of us have at least one rider on that list (in fact, at least two), so everyone is underway:
1 Joelsim 147
2 The_Fool_on_the_Hill 136
3 GPBlanco 133
4 Blues_in_the_Bottle 132
4 HugoKoblet 132

28 Multispeed 22
29 AlPacino 19
30 RoteLaterne 15
31 Armchair_Cyclist 9
31 DJSprtsch 9
31 Leadbelly 9

(Fool on the Hill's score is provisional: he is the second rider to have a duplicate Flakemore entry.)

The riders that scored well this month had gained a high profile before entries to the game closed: those who chose them, for the most part, knew they had done well this month. But will they be good picks after 3 years of racing rather than 3 weeks?

The Fool on the Hill has replaced his second Campbell Flakemore with VAN HOOYDONCK Nathan: a unique pick for him this year, as it was last.

He thus drops to 15th in month 1: everyone from 3rd to 14th previously moves up one.

Sigh, it's hard always being the most popular one...

just saw this now; had a good week and a half worth of catching up to do on the forum. Really excited for this game, although of course at least until mid-season I'll be more focused on the 2014-16 game, as more of those riders will be getting chances in their generally increased roles.

Thanks as always, AC, these games are great.

Good call, scrooll07, LATOUR Pierre-Roger scored 40 points. Mullen didn't show anything in the short ITT, I hope he'll show more in the years to come otherwise I'll regret choosing him over Flakemore.

Herald Sun Tour (2.1)
POWER Robert 45

Dubai Tour (2.HC)
K?NG Stefan 5

National Championships Colombia RR (NC)
LOPEZ MORENO Miguel Angel 20

More points for me this week than last month. :) But now all my riders take a break from riding this week.

Total fail week for me. Last year, although I had literally no knowledge, even I managed to choose some must have picks like the Yates twins, Magnus Cort Nielsen, Ewan Caleb. This year I'm not sure half of my riders will have a decent career. Most of them aren't even riding.

Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen (2.1)
K?NG Stefan
LATOUR Pierre-Roger

Strade Bianche (1.HC)
SKJERPING Kristoffer

Paris - Nice (2.UWT)
QUINTANA ROJAS Dayer Uberney

Le Tour de Langkawi (2.HC)
BELTRAN SUAREZ Edward Alexander

Beltran and Quintana should be good for points.
