Since the Giro is now, apparently over, as half the forum insists, the main interest will be in seeing if Bertie can go 17-0 with the jersey.

To do that he can't lose any time to Aru tomorrow or at Huy on Friday, then extend his lead in the tt.

What would be the previous longest consecutive days someone held the jersey at a gt? Wiggins 2012 Froome 2013 and Contador 2011 all if memory serves held it from the 2nd Sunday to the end. Nibs last year held the jersey for 20 days but only 11 consecutive.
Bugno was the last to go coast to coast at the Giro, in 1990. Rominger did it at the 1994 Vuelta which I think is the last GT to be won in that fashion.

Sorry, that should be Nieve or König. :D

This **** is confusing.

Heh heh.

It won't happen (yet), but I wish Sky would ride for König from tomorrow.

Leo's already shown far more potential than Porte as a Grand Tour rider - two top 10 results, one despite being as sick as a dog in the last week, and both achieved with little support from his team.

people who think you can recover from a 3 minute loss from a flat and a stupid penalty are funny

Porte's Giro is over

and i hope is over for many people

this is a farce of a race

Well you chose your name well, that's for sure.
I understand your dissapointment, but don't blame the race.

Re: Re:

"then the climb to La Valletta (2.7 kms at 9.8%... no category, yeah, seriously)"

The Tour has outside categorized climbs.
The Giro has outside categorized climbs.

Both have different meanings.

But are almost as hard as each other :D

The first 70 km can be insane if astana feels like it.

I'd try it, if i were them. You're most likely won't beat contador in the high mountains.

Jalabert '95 Vuelta was the most recent who had it longer (since stage 3). Rominger the same year had it since stage 2 in the Giro.

So it will be the most consecutive days in 20 years.

Looks like a cool stage. It might not be tough enough to shake up the top 5 but if Astana go Formula One it is easily hard enough to leave the bunch strewn out over the circuit. Astana and Tinkoff should be too strong for Porte to try anything today.

My money is on a PhilGil style rider from the break.

Don't think there is video from the start which is a shame.

I say it is 50/50; break wins and peleton fun day vs Astana go crazy...

Dear me if that happens just wait for the praise heaped upon the much loved Gerrans ! Even Porte is not in that league of hatred. Well not yet. A good stage for Gerrans and what looks like a hard stage especially if Astana go on the offensive.

That'd be nice. Today's finish is fast, last 1km into stadium could be an exciting finish. Anyone with 30 seconds from the top will stay away. A break is the best scenario for me and Luca Paolini would be an awesome winner. Part of me wants to see Porte try something here, gain some time back.

I like the breakaway's chances. Hopefully a large group.

I'm going to keep backing Battaglin until he wins or I go broke.

Haha I like your style. I do the same with Bongiorno for every mountainous stage.

How long has it been since we had 2 drama's in the giro? And it's only been 10 days lol

So what's gonna happen today?

Btw i mean drama in the "not terrible" sense, not things like what happened with WW. That's tragic of course.

I doubt that Porte will try anything here since the major climbing is during the first half of the stage. He might have a dig on stage 12 though.

It will be a very fast start with an intermediate sprint after just 7.6 km and then just 10 km later the start of the first categorised climb. It would have been a good day for live transmission from the beginning.

Hmmm, Bari + Stelvio + Mr Lampre World Champ?

(unless you mean only 2)

Oh boy peloton still intact, going to the first hill.

This could be one of the best 50 km of the year.

Of course we get no coverage.
