Interestingly that three of the escape artists of the Giro so far, Kruijswijk, Betancur and Intxausti, are among the strongest riders in the Giro now. It's probably just Contador, Aru and Landa that are stronger at the moment.

Well in 2011 before all kinds of health issues like every dutch rider he was also really strong in the 3rd week of the Giro. Following Contador attacks on the famous Gardecchia stage etc. He was still very young back then as well.

He's still not more then a very decent rider/climber that in most teams should just be 1 of the final domestiques on a mountain stage.

Contador has no teammates. Instead of attacking and forcing him to chase, Astana pile on the front and give him a ride.
The stupid is strong in Martinelli.
