But the 3rd looks decent enough imo :)
The 3rd looks very good (potentially), and also the 1st isn't bad (and would be very good if the Pradaccio is in, and stage 8 is hilly)

Better hope for some interesting hilly stages and Pradaccio because otherwise the first 2 weeks are unlikely to be very interesting

good for Nibali and Contador.

If that were so it seems a good route.
At the end of the second week shows an ITT +50km and Madonna di Campiglio (with the last two kilometers to 10% they say).
Third week in Giro's style lasts but nothing terrible

which is pretty unusual for Giro imho, but I believe if there are at least 2 of 4 big gt contenders,it will be still good 1st week cuz of them.

The route is crap...
- Abetone will be something like Montevergine if they don't put something big before
- Madonna di Campiglio isn't very difficult
- Cervinia also is a easy climb...Maybe they will put Tze Core and Coul du Joux before

- The point is indeed whether they'll put the Pradaccio before it or not. Just to put thing in perspective, we're talking of one that could be easily between the ten hardest climbs ever ridden in Italy
- ...yes, although the Daone ain't too bad
- There'll be Saint-Panthaleon before it surely, and let's hope for Tze Core too.

Do you think Sant'Agata to the top would count as a new side? Or will it be from Grosotto?

The hints I'm referring to are related to this article, where one would conclude that the side will be the one from Monno (part of the usual descent but with the central straight "cut" that you can see on maps, which I guess is the one named after AC. As a matter of fact, that IS the side that AC climbed a few days ago, for a local amateur event. The important point is if Marca understood correctly that this is the climb they'll do in 2015 or not.

So most likely Tonale, Gavia, Mortirolo, Aprica stage?

They would not be going up the way they came down in 2012 would they?

Which side would they then descent?

You mean this side, right?

In order to climb Tonale they need to climb Madonna di Campiglio again first, so I don't think they will. No, they won't climb the 2012 side.

So we would get 4 MTFs and only 1 descent finish in the last week ? Meh...
5 MTFs overall, 3 of them in the last week. Unless you count stage 15 as final week, which frankly I don't agree to.

With the start in Pinzolo, I doubt they will go over Tonale. Would be weird to start the stage with the same climb as the last one the stage before.

yeah, that one. About the descent, dunno.
Anyway I wouldn't give too much reliability to Marca

Aprica is not much of a climb so a rider like Nibali could attack over the top of the Mortirolo and use the descent to get away. So there would be a couple of opportunities to get way on descents. Stage 18 could be quite a good stage if they include Alpe Segletta, it is quite a tough climb.

It is the potential lack of quality of the mountain stages that is more of a worry to me rather than the lack of descent finishes.

Actually the (potential) quality of the rumoured stages is great, besides the Madonna di Campiglio one... If only just one of them was in the last edition it would have been great.

I guess they could go for Croce Dominii - Mortirolo - Padrio/Trivigno - Aprica

ofc they can. But the idea doesn't really get me crazy. Especially if they descend the Grosio side.

It depends a bit on what they do with the stage to Cervinia

Abetone could be good or it could be quite bad.

Finestre is a great climb but there seems like there will be no other climbs beforehand and with it being stage 20 it might end up as nothing if the GC is decided.

The Mortirolo stage and the stage to Verbania are my favourite looking stages so far.

There just not seem to be that one really hard multiple mountain stage in the race that would make the route great.

Hopefully some of the hilly stages are good.

I said potential, indeed.

It's a guess or you have some kind of source?

The Mortirolo one could be.

On Finestre, I thought it had been said earlier in this thread that they was not likely to be any other climbs beforehand. That is my only source.

If it was said, it was a guess by some users. I saw no sources about that.
