I think Sky will try and put Rowe or Swift in jersey.

I believe Lobato isn't fit to win the Spanish Champs due to his collarbone injury. The race will gravitate around Movistar intentions: this is whether Valverde wants to win the national jersey or they want to win it with a different team-mate. The surprise may come in the form of Barbero if there is a reduced group sprint.

That "uphill sprint" in Cáceres isn't really much of one, not much more than false flat. Movistar's strength in numbers means they either win this by late solo or duo escape or, if that's chased down, Lobato. No way he gets dropped on this unless he's on abysmal form.

The Polish one is also a not-much-of-an-uphill sprint, more a drag. But it does mean it's not a sprint course, though will be interested to see what kind of interest Kwiatkowski races this with.

Diego Ulissi will be Italian champion, though part of me is hoping for Cunego because it would be so out of left field.

Pozzovivo would be an awesome Italian champion, but try to imagine a standard Italian champion jersey with those brown shorts, horrible.
Germany should be interesting, will Geschke work for Degenkolb? Panzerwagen winning would be great, I don't think that it will happen but it would be great.

Brown short + tricolore italia indeed horrible!

I think geschke will work for degenkolb, i dont think he has the form to win by himself, although this course should suit him.

I hope martin will take it, you can ride the climb pretty much the whole way in the big ring, pretty good for tony martin. he has got good chances of winning this.

Don't be surprised if Rojas finds a way to come 4th. The only other sprinter Movistar have is Sanz, and I really can't imagine him winning. Caja Rural finding a way to steal it with Bilbao, Barbero or Fraile would be immense, although would essentially mean them moving to Movistar since the last time a non-Abarcá rider won the nationals was Rubén Plaza for Liberty Seguros on Cueva el Soplao in 2009, and he promptly signed for the Navarrese...

Again, not too difficult because of the somewhat exaggerated profile (only 386 m elevation gain for the entire course).

EDIT: On second thought, I actually think it's a very tough course. The two hills are in the last third of the course so it will be difficult to find the right pace. It's also near the coast so wind could be an issue too.

I would have thought it'd suit him if he went hard after the climb with a few laps to go and could get a gap, would be good to see and it's certainly a course that suits him. Even if they're in a bunch he's quicker than most people think (GVA and Terpstra found that out) and a short, steep cobbled climb could play right into his hands. Just don't know how fit he is at the moment.

I've a feeling Luke Rowe could be the man this year... he's going well and never really gets a shot with Sky (unlike Stannard, Kennaugh or Swift). Throw him a bone.

The sooner NFTO or some other team step up to pro-conti and strengthen their squad the better for the British nationals. This internal team championships stuff is worse than Spain. At least Caja Rural have some sort of chance there.

senni isn't a pure climber at all. more a hilly rider and strong on the flat
