I honestly don't understand why people are surprised at Styby's performance.

He's already shown that he can do well in high level classics (Roubaix), he's shown on some occasions that he can manage tough hills, he's shown to be at least in decent shape already and he's a CX rider, so obviously the sterrato is a joke for him. Basically he's a proven classics rider and this race has a perfect parcours for him. He was always going to do well here........

Exactly. And I wouldn't say it's a sure thing that Valverde drops him.

You are obviously right.

It will be hard for anyone to classify Valverde as a wheelsucker after this race, atleast. Hopefully he wins

If a guy like Gerrans attacks 20 times in one race doesn't mean he wasn't a wheelsucker in all the other races.

Who is it that's surprised by Stybar's performance? I don't recall anyone saying that.

Valverde seems to freeze during the really big races and forgets to race and suck wheel instead. He's a great rider though as he shows today.

lets see how the creative genius valverde loses this one. Surely, it can't go wrong again..

At this point if he doesn't win it's beacuse he isn't the strongest, not because he will **** up.
