I can find very little evidence of Kennaugh being really competitive in a tough classic. I would be surprised if he can win it or even being part of the finale.

Wind was absolutely brutal today in Tuscany but it should decrease by Saturday.

I rode from San Gimignano to south of Siena today on the men's course and the wind was absolutely brutal - the kind that blows you a metre across the road in places. I think they will be mostly into a headwind during the second half of the race so anyone on the front is going to have to be super strong to stay away if there is still a reasonably sized chasing group.

Incidentally, the sterrate were in excellent condition (at least the ones I went on). Bone dry and really compact and fast, with very little loose stuff. Don't think it will have anywhere near us much impact on the race as the hills and the wind.

yep, very nice. Terpstra could make a long range solo attack work.

Also, I would like to see PR style close road style footage along the way. Camera low to the ground, close to the bike all moving. I think it would be spectacular.
