Wind was absolutely brutal today in Tuscany but it should decrease by Saturday.

I rode from San Gimignano to south of Siena today on the men's course and the wind was absolutely brutal - the kind that blows you a metre across the road in places. I think they will be mostly into a headwind during the second half of the race so anyone on the front is going to have to be super strong to stay away if there is still a reasonably sized chasing group.

Incidentally, the sterrate were in excellent condition (at least the ones I went on). Bone dry and really compact and fast, with very little loose stuff. Don't think it will have anywhere near us much impact on the race as the hills and the wind.

Fantastic to get that report from someone there on the ground!

I wanted to post the startlist right now:)
Good, Lutsenko is riding Strade Bianche, he could be in the top 5.
A long range attack by Pirazzi or de Marchi would also be great.

he sucked in oman, and so did the marchi in qatar unfortunately

What a beautiful race this is.:)

Want Sagan to win, dont know why either, not a fanboy of his,Canc/Tommeke wont be around forever and the Spring Classics will need stars so about time Sagan started to fulfill his potential, needs this race and a monument this season to shed the nearly man tag IMHO.

good old pirazzi, the worse break away companion known to man.

Interesting option by Arredondo

considering his bad form and overweight the best thing to do for arredondo, who is very similar to betancur in pretty much everything
