Was this sector 6? If so no worries.
Sector 7 will be decisive in reducing the numbers of the bunch. If only 10 stay at the front they are not likely to stay away. It's better to have a group of about 20-30 riders after sector 7.

Then the last short sectors with steep hills in it will decide who will reach Siena first. That could be a solo or a small group.
