Anyone else suprised that Alaphilippe is not going? Also what kind of form do you think Uran will come in? Good enough to challenge top 10 (or even top 5)?

He never was going to the Tour.

Quite different type of riders, so it has significant meaning who of them will be chosen. It's kinda like Cannondale this year. Their Giro roster seemed to have more climbing depth than their TdF roster probably will.

Team Gadret not invited? They were pretty good in Dauphine.

Ventoso is a big friend of Quintana and his 'senior' helper, he also guided him thru cobbles so its understandable.

True. A lot of riders in the selection were also selected in Nairo's winning team in the Giro last year. He has a lot of confidence in them.

Well, a few of the stages are destined to be settled with a bunch sprint. Its better to have all the top guys participating to give the competition maximum weight.

It will be interesting to see who gets the bottles for Cannondale when it's just Hesjedal, Martin and Talansky left.

Hesjedal will probably be in the back of the group, so he is the most likely choice.

Agree. I don't even think his absence will add anything to the entertainment, most teams will behave the same anyway. And when in form, he can influence the outcome of the points classification without himself being interested in it.

It will depend on many factors and can as well never happen. Stage 11 is the first where good climbers may be isolated from team-mates earlier than 15kms to the finish. That's half of the race and it's more likely than not that the team will have some clue who is the better prospect by then.

Why? They both have superior records as climbers.

Talansky is a couple of years younger than Martin and many years younger than Hesjedal, so maybe he has improved. It wouldn't be a shock if he climbed better than either, particularly with Hesjedal already with the Giro in his legs and Martin's quite disrupted season. But historically he has rarely done so, and Martin was stronger than him on the climbs at the Dauphine.
