Wasn't that Gaviria too or am I confusing him with someone else? Would be pretty impressive by him if he can ride like that and sprint like this.
Anyway, if them Colombians start beating us on flat stages too, us Europeans can quit this whole cycling thing already.![]()

Hugo Koblet said:I just rewatched the finale and the commentators mentioned Gaviria as the one caught 300 metres before the finish line. Perhaps there was another Colombian in an attack earlier on?
Flamin said:Yes, Maarten was talking about a Colombian who was caught on the last hill, and that was Bryan Ramirez. In fact, it was again Ramirez who attacked downhill and was caught with 300m to go, not Gaviria.
Maaaaaaaarten said:I watched some highlights and I think it was Ramirez indeed I was thinking of, but I guess Gaviria's ride is all the more impressive! I knew Gaviria did something good at the U23 RR but I confused him with Ramirez. But the point remains that if Gaviria is still there in front of the peloton after the final hill and he can sprint like we saw in this race and he's 20 years old, he appears to be quite talented!
EDIT
wait is was Ramirez as well who attacked in the downhill? Then the commentators got it wrong indeed. Okay, so if Gaviria wasn't in the attack and the English commentators misjudged who the Colombian rider attacking attacking at the very end was, then Gaviria still made it into the first group, which is decidedly less impressive, but still a decent ride for a 20 year old sprinter![]()
