Just imagine what would happen if contador wins the stage and froome looses minutes
I guess the forum would explode but in a positive way :D

Either of those events have a slim posibility to happen, but the chance of both are lower then of De Gendt winning the Tour.

Pinot to attack at foot of climb!

That would suicidal for any rider to attack at the base of the climb. Sky would have all their mountain doms to use an they would be reeled in fairly quickly.

Could Rodriguez have a chance tomorrow? I know it's a long one for him but it's the only decent sized ascent of the day and I think he may want to cash in again as he looks in good nick. I don't see him losing too much time on this Stage but who knows?

I don't think he has a chance of winning the way the stage will be done. Sky will control break, only as much to ensure that no GC contenders is in it. Up to La Pierre Saint Martin Sky will make an upbeat tempo with the sound of Froome trumpets. Their plan will be make a tempo that suits Froome and as many Sky riders as far up the mountain as possible. Tinkoff-Saxo will try to put a halt to Sky's plans by upping the tempo up the mountain. They want to see, how many Sky riders are left for later use. One from break will win. And there will be a fierce fight between GC contenders.

Finally we will see the 4 greatest gt riders on the planet on peak form riding against each other up a big mountain. The moment we've all been waiting for :)

Sadly we wont. Last the best 3 were on peak (or close to) but sadly crashes ruined it. This year Nibs and Berto dont seem to be at their peak

They all prepared for this race and managed to get through the first week healthy, what more can we ask? I mean, there's so many things that can happen, like crashes, illness, not a 100% preparation etc. it's nearly impossible for ALL contenders to ride the perfect race.

But this sure as hell is the closest we'll get in god knows how many years to a battle royal.
I feel that last year they were all closer to their peak (well ofcourse Nairo wasnt there). This year Berto hasnt prepared optimally (doing the Giro). And Nibali seem far from last year's form. Nairo and Froome are the only two of the four who seem to be near their peak.

But lets not forget TJ. I have hopes for him.

it is dofficult to predict about tomorrow, becouse is almost to predict about le Tour and we just have Dauohiné and Huy to take some conclusions...

But I think could be Foome and Quintana, and about one minute later a group, or more or less a group, with Purito taking some seconds at the end, including Contador, NIbali, Gesink, Mollema, Tejay, Urán, Pinot and Bardet, with some seconds among them.

But of course there will be surprises in all the ways, and it is difficult to predict... some rides are better with hot weather, is a good day for them,

why??

You can compared him with Froome, Contador or Quintana.

if you compare him with Pinot you can say he is better, although I see Pinot at the same level that last year.
Maybe you are right, but we will se next days.

He was the stronger of the contender in the Pave stage, but the stage wanst selective as last year, no more.
What happends in bretagne could be a bad day as he did for all the pressure he has this year or more than that.
what I think is that Nibali is not so good with this good weather tahn with the bad weather Tour had last year.
it was hot weather in italian championships, but here the rivals are not Reda and Ulissi.

I stopped reading here.

Well obviously I am having a bit of fun. Do you not that think there will be some wild cards tomorrow? Arrendondo falls well in that area.

Arredondo will take it easy today. He attacks tomorrow.

Contador won't attack. He'll just follow Froome's wheel. He's not in the right condition yet so he won't be going out there to attack. That's the third week if his legs come.

Rodriguez good chance for the stage if he's with them far into the climb. As is Valverde. Valverde will attack today whilst Quintana marks Froome.

Everybody will mark Froome tomorrow. I think he wins and lay down the law.

I thought of a group of 10 riders coming together because of the gradient of the climb, but after listening to Nairo talk about tomorrow I think there is going to be some serious separation. He said that after 9 classic type stages, the heat and the length of the climb is going to be hard for a lot of riders.

if he do like in Ax 3 domaines..and he is even stronger IMO.
but Quintana is betetr as well, and quintana was super that day attacking from far and didnt lose too much time at the end.
Purito crashed the previous days and he pay a little, but Purito is the same that in 2013, no better. Enought to follow Quintana and Froome tomorow?

The doubt tomorrow is if SKY will put an attacking pace in la Pierre or just a pace to wait for attacks and later reacts... If they do the second I think that people as Pinot, Bardet, Mollema, Gesink will attack.

Arredondo... I think he will work for Mollema or will look for an stage later in the race. He is good, but he need experience, he could do it very well in Mende.

Maybe. Stage after a rest day is often unpredictable. If Froome can't go up the road then it might be Valverde or Rodriguez for the win as the best sprinters. But if the Sky train rides like in 2013 well I don't see those riders keeping up. Should be interesting. D Day for Nibali, more time lost on his rivals and it's over for him.

I agree, I don't think it will be over for Contador or Quintana tomorrow, but if Nibali loses more time its game over for him.

Re: 2015 tour d'france stage 10: Tarbes › La Pierre-Saint-Ma

I doubt the break will survive but it's not inconceivable. Sky may choose to save energy until the final climb.

For those thinking about who might get in the break, here is a pretty amazing trend I noticed ....

Christophe Riblon has an incredible record of getting into the break on the Tour's first mountain top finish:

2009 - Stage 7 - In the breakaway
2010 - Stage 8 - In the breakaway
2011 - Stage 12 – Not in the breakaway*
2012 - Stage 7 - In the breakaway
2013 - Stage 8 - In the breakaway
2014 - Stage 10 - In the breakaway

*The only exception is 2011, when it is worth noting that he got into the breakaway on the second mountaintop finish (Stage 14).

Although he's now 34yo, his form is strong, as shown by his recovery in the team time trial after a puncture.

As I say, I don't think the break will survive, but at 200-1 surely he's worth a dollar or two.
If he doesn’t go today then look to tomorrow, as he commented in this article that Wednesday’s stage might be more suitable for a breakaway:

Not expecting any major time gaps other than from those on a bad day. It will be difficult for any climber to make a difference on stage with only 1 real climb and the final climb being relatively shallow in the final third of the ascent. I think something similar to Morzine Avoriaz will occur in the results.
