they really wasted a lot of time in that final K. Rolland is going to kick himself for that later if he doesn't win the GC

Based on how Paterski climbed in Ruta del Sol.

Why isn't Paterski a candidate to win the GC? Rolland is still below par (his Tour form) and Paterski is in really good shape.

Haven't looked too closely at the route to know if it's even possible, but maybe this will lead to some unpredictable racing now. Contador long range attack plz.

nah - they didn't waste much if any time time in final k - they were cooked being in front most of the day. and last km pretty windy. and peloton in panic mode riding beyond full gas last 10 k.

all that said: it ain't over 'til it's over.

Who ended up chasing in the peloton??

sky, sky, and then sky.

another tactical masterclass by sky today. Is this the marginal gains I'm hearing so much about?

Why is it a tactical masterclass by SKY yet TCS, Movistar,Cannodale.Astana & Ag2R get off free ...at least SKY chased ...more than can be said for the others

If you want to blame SKY for everything ...wait until it is actually just there fault ...otherwise you may come across as a bigot

It was really entertaining to watch a breakaway making it to the finish line. Perhaps SKY is saving energy to smash it on stage 3 onward?

 Stage3-Alt dels Angels 6km-5,5%
Stage4-Alt de la Creueta 21km-4,5% / La Molina 5,3km-5,8%
Not really a route to smash anything :(

The biggest fails were the teams who had a half decent sprinter that let their biggest chance of a stage win just pass them by. Plus of course GC teams Saxo, Movistar, Sky ect, although at least Sky did some work in the last few k's.

Tinkoff, Steppers and Movistar put men to the front when the gap was 9.30, Sky put men to the front too when the gap was around 5 mins.

Have to wonder if there was a misunderstanding with the km's to go or the time gaps?

Nice win for Paterski, not an easy gap to close on him on this route.

He was ten minutes and four minutes back on both MTF's in the RDS. They should get rid of him on stage 4.
