That's unlogical. Aru needs every second he can take so also boni seconds before the ITT

I know, it is headscratching. At least push harder on the climbs if you dont want to set the pace on the flat and conserve energy

The strangest thing is that the last climb has un-steep percentages. So they can't really do much damage there normally. Why not push at the steepest climb of the day? Astana is weird

He came 6th last year in the veulta and "only" lost 9 minutes to Contador.

And I think Aru beat him on every mountain stage so I wouldn't be so quick to say that there are zero lies.

I would have expected one more hour of coverage like last year in San Glorio. In any case I'm afraid that having such a hard climb 60kms from the finish will just contribute to reduce the peloton size to 60-70 riders. Just like San Glorio last year.

I was too optimistic. The peloton must have been climbing El Escudo and having their lunch at the same time.

What a great rider he was. A little bit underestimated the past years because of the 'big Spanish 3', but he was part of that for sure.

What's the incentive for Puccio to be the in the break? What glory is there in finishing 4 minutes ahead of the peloton (because there will surely lose minutes to the better climbers in the breakaway)? I don't understand why Sky wouldn't send Kiryenka or Boswell.

I think Sky have decided that the team classification is a worthwhile goal in this race: Puccio's presence in the break cancels out Rojas's in that competition.

It was a big battle to make the break - not case of forming an orderly queue. I could see Puccio finishing in the first 3 here anyway
