2015 Vuelta Stage 17 : Burgos - Burgos ITT 39 km

Tomorrow will take place a decisive stage for the GC.

Will Aru and Rodirguez be able to do a decent TT and limit their losses to a minimum against Dumoulin?

Will Dumoulin be able to do an excellent TT after battling during two week for GC?

Might Majka be able to sneak into the battle for a win of the the GC? He's into the battle for podium but if he delivers tomorrow he might find himself real close to the Red Jersey.

First rider start at 13.31 and last one at 16h50, arrival of the last is foreseen for 17h41.

I am not sure why they put the mountain time trial in Pais Vasco. Not comparable.

Time Trials like this one are hard to predict. In the past similar TT have produced rather big gaps, while gaps remained modest in other ones. So lots of Tension for tomorrow.

I wouldnt underestimate Majka. I still have him on my list of potential winners. He might be less than a minute behind aru after the TT and if there is carnage on stage 20 and most gc contenders are isolated he still has a chance.

Whether he winds up winning or not, Dumo is looking like he'll likely at least make the overall podium and I can't recall the last time a Dutch rider finished on the podium of a GT. Who was the last Dutchie to do that? The last to win?

A lot depends on the wind. Currently forecast to be a decent breeze from WSW. The more wind, the better for Dumoulin vs. the climbers although it may make it more difficult for him to win the stage if the early starters have calmer conditions. The first half looks like a real specialists course - fairly straight, and looks quite exposed. That's where the big time gaps will occur. The second half is much more technical and more sheltered - the climbers will not lose so much here

Last Dutch to podium a GT was Erik Breukink, Tour 1990. Zoetemelk most recent winner, in 1980.

I expect the same result, Aru should loose between 1:30 and 1:40.

If you look at the TT of tomorrow and the one last year, you see that in both TT's, the last 25 km's are flat. Only the beginning part was tougher last year then now, but still there are some really small climbs. And in the last 10 km, there's also a small hill, and 2 k's downhill.

And last year, Purito lost 1.49 on winner Tony Martin, while Aru lost 2.03.

so most people agree there will only be 30 seconds or so maximum time gaps between 1st an 2nd GC after TT?

Id tom had 20 second lead would that b enough?

If aru has any lead will that be enough to win?

martin is better than dumoulin ? If this was the gap after tomorrow then purito or aru favourite for win.
