I like Nibali and I hope he can race on but I wouldnt complain if he gets disqualified

These are my feelings as well. Now that it's it out there, and so blatant, there needs to be some action taken.

Can a DS be thrown out of the race too? Because whoever was in charge of that team car is as much if not a bigger culprit than Nibali.

suspended for a day that happens sometimes. Especially to hilaire. but thats mostly because of not following the traffic rules, or causing crashes between cars

Porte got 2 Minutes because the rulebook clearly stated that the lowest fine possible for changing wheels with a rider from another team is 2 minutes. Stop comparing this to Porte's wheelchange.

Start comparing it to other sticky bottles, stayering etc.

Indeed. All that none sense whether Nairito was strong or weak, whether the Alien & SKY are up to the task, whether Valpiti & Purito aren't at their best ........ just rubbish

a 4K bump on stage 2 can't determine anything at all - it was a "warm up"

A few seconds either way on a finish like this, which is all there was between most contenders, tells us very little, I agree. But for a few riders it can tell us something. Quintana getting dropped by the escape group and losing 30 seconds to them in a short period of time does tell us something. Someone like Talansky shipping three minutes tells us something. Drawing conclusions from Aru coming in five seconds ahead of Landa or Purito a few seconds ahead of Valverde on the other hand is no better than cutting open a sheep and reading the future in its entrails.

I just finished watching the stage and I don't see much of what you see. All because is the second day and legs are cold. Especially for those riders that rode the Tour hard and have not raced in between.

Don't know who made the decision to do it like that. Anyway, 2 minutes should be fine, same as wheelgate, both were trying to get back to the peloton illegally.

And Peraud getting 10 seconds sets also dumb precedent. Whatever the decision is, it will be completely arbitrary most likely

There was a huge crash. Astana man tends to Aru and gets him on his way. Nibs left standing in the road for ages before he gets a bike. He has 3 team mates to help him. He has to make up 1:30+, teammates drop off and he has to go alone on a storming ride (and holding onto a car) to catch the peloton . Then had nothing left for the finale......

I fixed that for you!

I am sure he wanted to do that in the Fedaia a few years back!

FYI Talansky crashed even before the race came on tv. I've heard no report on his condition but he was off the back ~2 hours before the finish. So 3 minutes might actually be a valiant effort!

Exactly. He is my second fav rider but this was pretty egregious. If he were tossed he has no one to blame but himself.

Update: They're planning to DQ Nibali but Astana is asking for leniency: 10 minutes penalty instead of Nibali going home.

I wonder who's idea it was and why they even did it. It's dumb to close a gap of 1 minute only to get 10 minutes penalty or get disqualified.
