Have you guys considered that Purito simply couldnt follow?

Thats most likely ofcourse, but no let's bash the rider. That's more fun....
Yeah, it was probably a bit harsh of some of us to call him stupid/idiotic.

But, surely in that position, even if your legs feel dead, you at least try to go with them. A real winner would gamble that Aru might feel even worse. No way Contador, Froome or Quintana wouldn't have tried to go in the same position.

But if he's indeed weak then he's just advertised the fact to Majka and lost 2nd

If Cannondale had no problem to help Dumoulin, they needed to talk and to put a rider to help Tom in the last Km of Mircuera, the only moment he could lost la Vuelta. Tom was at 8 second of the back of the small group of Landa in the descent, just before Luis Leon arrived, with just a little help uin Morcuera would have been enough, it is useless the help Cannondale did later.

I know, yes :)

Almost ten years ago. Won the time trial, too.
That year had a final mountain stage a lot like today's.

But that's the difference. Purito doesn't have the mindset of someone as Contador.

Really happy for Aru, strongest rider in this race and a great performance today from Astana with only 6 and 1/2 men.

Well, for a rider with his palmares who really cares whether he finished 2nd or 3rd? Surely worth going for a 1 in 10 shot; even a 1 in 100 shot at finishing 1st.
