Anyone have an idea why BMC worked with Sky today, chasing the break?

Valerio Piva, Sports Director:
“Bardet attacked and caught up some time, so we put Amael Moinard on the front to control the gap and try and bring he and Pinot back."

Thanks!

Re:

He got neither. Too greedy. He just should've gone for yellow. Hope he surprises tomorrow in the final descent!

Bardet really screwed up by goint at 3K to go. He lost a partner & a sprint. Would've had better chance for a stage and making another 15-20 sec up by working together until some 500-800 meters were left. Too aggressive and without any sense.

Certainly looks like Yates is the strongest he has ever been.

Yep i reckon he and Simon will stay at orica at then end of the season. Why wouldn't you?
Sky don't need them. They'd get less opportunities.

It would be best for both all parties if they sign one year contract extensions - Next year will be their 4th year as Pro's and let them ride for GC at Giro and Vuelta.

Pretty safe bet that Chaves will be leading the team at the Giro next season and neither of the Yates boys have shown they are ready to ride high in a GT GC yet

Pretty safe bet that Chavez will ride in the Australian summer - either TDU, Cadel Evans race or Herald Sun Tour - Safe as houses that Chavez will ride TDF in 2017 - Fourth year is when you test riders out in GC.

I don't agree on what GT he will ride next season, OGE will send him to the race they think he can contend in and at this stage without knowing the routes it will be the Giro and not the TDF, why would they send him to go up against Froome, Contador, Quintana when they could take him to the Giro with team support and a chance at victory

I actually heard on The Telegraph's podcast during the Giro that it basically came down to the routes. On paper, I would definitely say that this years TdF route suits Chaves better than the Giro's, but then you obviously also have to compete against the best of the best and you still have Yatesx2 who probably don't wan't to do the Giro.

It comes down to what Chaves wants ultimately after his performance in this Giro. Orica wanna please him as much as they can

I think Chaves is also pretty happy to please OGE aswell, you are correct about the level of competition he might face which is why I say he goes to the Giro and can't see why they would send him to the TDF just yet. Anyway this is veering off topic so I'll leave it here :)

I thought Froome looked pretty good in that finale. You could make a case that if he was really feeling great that he would have attacked himself, but that's not really his style. His approach is to beat everyone on the first mountain stage and then, as far as possible, keep things running smoothly. When it came to the end though, he held Martin's wheel for quite a long time and pulled ahead of everyone else. That's impressive for a GC man. Martin is a contender to be the new Purito now that the old Purito is, well, old. If you are in a situation where a small group has one km of a climb to the finish, his rivals are people like Valverde and Alaphillipe, not people like Froome, Contador or Porte. Holding Martin's wheel for more than half of his finishing charge is a sign of strength for a GC man, not a sign of weakness. He's performing well against a specialist doing his specialty.

It's hard to see how anyone beats him from here unless he crashes. He has a stronger team than anyone else, so tactical funnybusiness is unlikely to work.

As you all expect, this is the most beautiful day in my life :D , until the next, of course. A remake of Mende, real! Edited, scripted, like Blackhawk Down. We won! :p .

And I agree that Bardet was too greedy, unless he thought that Pinot was a dead weight, which turned out to be wrong. And sprint-wise, Pinot historically has the edge. But why squander your chances to win the GC and go for the stage? Stepping over dollars to get nickels...

Regardless, Froome gets a little something, so that's 2-1. Props to Bertie for trying something crazy. It's putting Sky on notice: attacks can happen anywhere, not just in the final 5K.

Tomorrow could be interesting: Pinot to get the KOM, Bardet to get runner-up, Alberto to make a statement. The picture is getting clearer and Froome will be ready for the TdF: he's the man to beat. Bertie is at a very high level. Nairo looked good. Could this be a race for the ages?

One day we'll see Froome, Martin & Zakarin all attacking together and it will be so ugly that cycling will never be broadcast for a public audience again

Just need Mollema in the group to make it the apocalypse for cycling stylists.

The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse ! The race director would have to call the doctor forward. That would be one scary breakaway to ride amongst ! I would do a Moncoutie and sit on the back but not too close.

We won't see it on TV though, because "Due to the shocking nature of these images, the broadcast will be interrupted." :p

Aru is probably worse than all of them though!
